James Pittman

JAMES PITTMAN was born on June 14, 1925 to the late Jesse Pittman and Blanche Pittman in North Carolina. At a very young age, his parents moved to Baltimore, Maryland. He began his education within the Baltimore Public School System. His education earned him a diploma as a graduate from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School of Baltimore City. On June 19, 2013, he departed his life on earth. James Pittman was married to the late love of his life, Margaret Jean Pittman until the time he departed. Through this union were two sons, Kevin Pittman and Keith Pittman. James was an excellent provider for his family. He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation located in Sparrows Point, Maryland. He was gainfully employed there for thirty-nine years until his retirement in 1982. James was commonly known to his family and friends as “Beau.” He enjoyed music such as Jazz and Big Band. He enjoyed artist such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and The vocals of Billie Holiday. He enjoyed fishing; however, he did not eat fish or any seafood; but enjoyed the time he spent with family. James was a fan of sports and also enjoyed attending all family events. James had the ability to make someone smile through words of encouragement or through one of his stories that may leave you wondering how in the world could such a thing happen; and be so funny, while the end result would leave you with knowledge for the future. James was baptized on December 5, 1987 as a servant of Jehovah. James so loved his brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall where he worshipped his God Jehovah. He continued to hold true to his faith and his belief in God throughout his illness, leading to his departure from this life. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Margaret Pittman; two sons, Kevin Pittman and Keith Pittman; one brother, Leroy Pittman; one sister, Shirley Muse; two brothers-in-law, Bill Williams and Jerome Williams; six sisters-in-law, Willie Bea Brown, Bernice Williams, Richardine Williams, Leola Williams, Minnie Pittman and Debbie Williams; three grandchildren, Lorraine Skipwith, Michael Skipwith and Taylor Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
