James H. Green

JAMES HAROLD (HARRY) GREEN is the seventh of eleven children born to the late Rev. Esau and Janie Bell Green. This joyous event took place on December 4, 1940 in Lynchburg, South Carolina. God called His faithful servant from labor to reward on March 27, 2023. Harry was a member of Apostolic Bible Study Church in Baltimore, Maryland residing under Bishop Arthur H. Coleman Sr. He received his education in the South Carolina Public School System. Harry was a hard-working man that loved his family. He was always a great provider. He worked various jobs in South Carolina and Florida. Upon moving to Maryland, he worked at W.F. Wilson & Sons Company, David Green & Associates and Trent Co & Company. Harry was reunited with his childhood friend Shirley Green who he later married on March 16, 1968 in Baltimore, MD. From this union a loving family was created. Harry and Shirley became foster parents to numerous children who became part of their family and dear to their hearts. He loved to read the bible, have family cookouts, cheat at cards, talk trash to EVERYONE, watch football, and his favorite baseball team (Baltimore Orioles). He was the life of the party to the very end. One of the things we will always remember is that Harry Green created his own language. The most memorable words from his list of “Harry-isms” were Shommmp, Doink-Doink and Slum mani. Harry enjoyed spending quality time with his nephews, Alfred “Pookieman” Young, Gary “Gar” McDowell Sr, and David Jr and his cousins Alphonso “Fonsie” Goodman and Tony Goodman. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Shirley Green; two daughters, Vonda and Ieashia Green; two sons, Maurice (Jennifer) Green, and Wade (Claudia) Wilson; three honorary daughters, Ivy (Thedros), Latasha (Bert) and Katelyn; several honorary sons, Jeremy, Ralph, Maxwell, Darvell, Deangelo and numerous others; two sisters, Rebecca Green and Bunia McDowell; one brother, Green; nine sisters-in-law, Gennis Rogers, Lucinda Laws, Virginia McDowell, Catherine Savage, Dorothy Simon, Shirley Stuckey, Georgette Rankin, Alberta Green and Marie Green; seven brothersin- law, Roger (Chaunda) Laws, James Laws, Jefferson (Gina) Laws, Vincent (Maisha) Johnson, Eric Johnson, Alfred (Anita) Fullard, and Michael Fullard; eight grandchildren, Marvonte, Emilio, Pavia, Kamonte, Maurice, Aaliyah, Mitchell, and Zoiey; eighteen honorary grandchildren, twenty-three honorary great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
