James Gladney Jr

JAMES J. GLADNEY, affectionately known as “june and junior”, was born in Baltimore, MD to the late James L. Gladney and Louise Gladney on June 28,1950. On January 18, 2015 God called James home after battling with many ailments. James was educated through the Baltimore City Public School System. He attended Samuel Gumpers Vocational School. In 1969, he met Geraldine Nash whom he later married, and from this union came five children. James was a dedicated and loving man to family. Early on James worked diligently to provide for everyone. He held employment with Lifeschultz Fast Freight a trucking company where he was employed for 24 years. James later became employed with the Enoch Pratt Free Library where he also held years of service and worked until his health no longer allowed him to do so; he held a position in the facilities Department as a facilities Supervisor. James lived a life full of love. He was a wonderful and loving father, brother, and uncle providing for his family until the end. Although James had health issues, he looked after his sister Katherine Gladney until the time of his death. James enjoyed life. He loved music, enjoyed watching his western films and movies, loved watching football; the raven's was his team. He traveled. Enjoyed working, and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and all of his family and friends. James was a man of faith and kept his faith in God. If there was ever anything you needed, you could call on “june”. He always extended a helping hand and took c are of everyone he could. James taught us all to love with the love he so greatly showed. His grandchildren were his joy. You could have not met a better person than James. Leaving to cherish his memory: his children Bryant Gladney, Micheal Gladney, Adrian Gladney, Nicole Scott and Antoinette “Michelle” Scott, his two sisters Katherine Gladney and Shelia Gladney; one brother Jessie Gladney , fifteen grandchildren, and two great grandkids. He also leaves behind his dedicated brother-in-law Charles Nash (chuckie) who looked after and took care of him, his brother in law Donald Nash in New Jersey and sister in law Daphne Baxter in Baltimore and Helen Thomas in Odenton, MD, good long time friends Joyce, Cherry Hill and long time neighbors from the 3200 block of Elmora Ave in Baltimore, MD where he lived for over 30 years and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding James in death is his wife Geraldine Gladney, sisters Elaine Gladney, Shirley Gladney, Joyce Gladney, his brother Thomas Gladney and brother in law Harold Nash.
