James Bullock

James Andrew Bullock was born to the late Nathanial and Lillie Bullock on November 8, 1929m in Petersburg VA. He departed life suddenly on March 19, 2009. James began his worship at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and graduated from Peabody High School. As a young man he enjoyed shooting pool with friends and often spoke of his boxing days.At the age of 17, James enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the medical services field and was later employed with the Federal Government. After retiring from the Federal Government, James worked as a medical examiner for various insurance companies.James was a member of the Nomads Van Club and became a member of Mason lodge #9 in 1986, where he was a Master Mason. As a Mason he served as Jr. and Sr. Deacon, Jr. and Sr. Warden and Worshipful Master.Everyone who knew James was blessed in some way by his generous and caring spirit. He would do anything he could to help those who needed him. The blessings he bestowed upon others was returned to him when he was blessed with Lillie “Sha” Bullock his daughter was his pride and joy. James finally married the true love of his life he late Deborah McMillion in April 1983, and together they enjoyed many joyous years traveling, attending social events and most of all spending time with their grandchildren.James Bullock is survived by his older sister Dorothy “Doll” Robinson (Samuel Robinson brother-in-law), and was the youngest of seven siblings to include Eddie, Nathan Anna, Margret, and Robert, all of whom preceded him in death. He will be lovingly missed by his beloved daughter Lillie “Sha” Bullock and six grandchildren Kedrick Horne, Ashley Horne, Ka’chad Willis, Aishaya Hill, Ke’Andre Horne and Kavontez Horne. He additionally, was loved and revered as a father to Lakishna DeGraffinried (Sha’s sister) and husband Freddie and a granddad to Dareya Southers, Kannan DeGraffinried, Addis DeGraffinried and held a special place in his heart for his niece Towanda Williamson. James will be missed by a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
