Jamel Antwain Williams

Jamel Antwain Williams, 42, affectionately known as "Mel" to his family and friends was born December 24, 1975 to the late Sharon D. Ruffin and Alfred Blount in New York, New York. On February 18, 2018, the Lord whispered to Jamel, come home my beloved King and he answered the call. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Louise Williams and step-father, Eddie Ruffin. He was educated in the Richmond Public School System and graduated from Armstrong High School. He furthered his education at Shaw University in Rocky Mount, North Carolina majoring in business. At an early age, he accepted God in his life. He has received his spiritual blessings from being a member of Spiritually United African Nation House of Worship. Jamel married his one and only love, Cleshel, in holy matrimony on August 21, 2015 in Richmond, Virginia, after being together since 2007. And from this union they raised Theyon, Nuwbiyah and Nyeemah. He formerly worked at Kroger as a stock clerk and in operations for the Richmond Coliseum. Upon his passing he was employed by UPS as a customer service representative and was a barber on the side. He was a hardworking man and a master of many trades. Jamel was a dedicated provider, protector, wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Jamel adored his family and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. A kind and good-natured person that had a powerful presence and made a indelible mark on all of those he encountered. He was an avid reader ad loved the game of basketball. Jamel's spirit was one in a million. We will love and miss him forever. He was an awesome man; giving his heart, soul, love and time to many. The lives that he impacted will have memories that all of us will cherish. He made you feel that by trusting the Most High, everything will work out. He never gave up! He fought a courageous fight. We will always remember our last moments with him. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Cleshel Williams; son, Theyon Rutledge Williams; daughters, Nuwbiyah and Nyeemah Williams; seven sisters, Janeen, Tia, Tiffanu, Natasha, Tamara, Sharay and Marie; four brothers, Richard, Michael, Jeremiah and Timothy; father-in-law, Cleopheus Jones; sisters-in-law, Candice Jones, Kalaurna Ross, Montigua Artis and Tegan Mayo; devoted aunt, Lynne Galloway; devoted cousin, Sean Galloway; his two best friends that he loved as brothers, Orlando "Doe" Waddy and Shaun Jones; and a host of others relatives and friends.
