Journey of LifeGod bestowed the miraculous blessing of Jamaal Lamar Smoot onto Timothy Lamar Smoot and Sandra A. Hamilton-Robinson on December 28, 1982 here in Baltimore. From the time Jamaal began to walk, he displayed his aggressive nature toward life and love for his family and friends. His determination and smooth character seemed to woo just about everyone who came near him, especially the young ladies.Jamaal attended Gardenville Elementary School after getting a head start on education at the Ivy League Learning Center. He went on to attend Northeast Middle School and ultimately became a member of graduating Class of 2000 at Mergenthaler Vo-Tech High School. At the time the Lord called Jamaal to be with Him, Jamaal was in his final semester at TESST College, where he was receiving training in electrical, computer and telecommunications technology.Jamaal had been employed by Waterford Caseworks and Tops Unlimited, both in Camden Yards, since his freshman year at Mervo. Through his employment Jamaal developed a reputation as a devoted worker and quality craftsman in custom cabinetry, taking advantage of all the overtime he could get. In fact, Jamaal enjoyed the craft (and the overtime pay!) so much, his father had to force him to cut back his hours, from time to time, to get him to concentrate on his studies.Jamaal had tons of friends, many of which he has known since early childhood. For the fellows, “Smoot” was their “main man.” For the ladies, “Jamaal,” was their “Boo.” To his mother Sandra, his stepmother Terri, his grandmothers Marguerite and Ruby, his aunts Pam and Lynnette and his sister Jaida, he was God’s perfect angel. To his father Tim, his stepfather Troy, his grandfather Ike, Troy’s father Hosie, his uncles Tony, Jamie, Sam and Keith and his brothers James and Little Troy, he was as “smooth as silk.” Nothing will ever even slightly diminish the infinite memories we all shared with him.
