Jacquelyn E. Milburn

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Evelyn Milburn was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 30, 1961 to Lewin Tiller and Florence Evelyn Milburn (Clay), both of whom preceded her in death. On May 17, 2020, God called Jackie home after a long battle with cancer. In 2012, Jackie was initially diagnosed with lung cancer, but later the cancer progressed to brain cancer in 2015. During the course of her illness, Jackie endured four brain surgeries, the most recent occurring in March of 2020. Jackie loved life, family, friends, and laughter. Jackie was known to be a generous giver. Jackie’s home was always a safe haven for family and friends in need. During her formative years, Jackie attended Baltimore City Public Schools first attending Thomas G. Hayes Elementary Schools, Lombard Junior High School on to graduation from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1979. After leaving high school, Jackie attended Coppin State College for one year. While in college, Jackie met Walter Williams with whom she had two sons, Walter John Williams, Jr. and Donte Zachary Williams. Jackie inherited the Clay family work ethic and worked tirelessly, as a single mom, to maintain financial stability for her children. In 1988 Jackie completed PTC, a Career Development Certificate Program, where she earned a certificate in data processing Jackie completed the program and began employment at the Census Bureau. After two years at the Census Bureau, Jackie began secretarial work at the Baltimore City Jail. Jackie later obtained a job with Abacus which led to janitorial services with various employers to include Social Security Administration, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Franklin Square Hospital. Jackie later obtained employment with ABM and Towson State University, where she was quickly promoted, on both jobs, to the position of Supervisor. Jackie, ever conscience of providing for her children and grandchildren, worked both jobs from 1997-2015 when she ceased employment due to her illness. In 2014, Jackie rejoined New Psalmist Baptist Church where she continued to worship until travel became too difficult. Jackie leaves to mourn her death: her devoted sons, Walter John Williams & Donte Williams; five granddaughters, (Tynasia Hunter, Darae Williams, Trinitee Williams, Symone Williams, Raven Williams; and one great granddaughter McKenzie Sampson. Jackie also leaves to mourn two brothers, George Michael Milburn (Lewin), Wendell Zachary Clay; four sisters, Vera Annette Coles-Shabazz (Yusuf), Florence Ellen Milburn, Coretta Agnes Fenner (Kenneth), Lydia Bethany Milburn-Hester(Lewin); and three brother-in-laws. Jackie also leaves behind an uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition, Jackie leaves two godsons, friends, and most dedicated friends, James & Shirley Dorsey, both of whom supported Jackie throughout her illness.
