Jacqueline Bernadette Wax

JACQUELINE BERNEDETTE WAX, the oldest child of the late Ellsworth and Wahseola Coates, went home to the Lord on November 12, 2016. Jackie was born November 30, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1965. On June 14, 1969 she married her soul mate Gary Wax. JACKIE was baptized at St. Cecilia Church on April 18, 1987 by Father Donald Sterling. She was a member of the Ladies Guild and later became the recording secretary. From 1965 until 1971 Jackie was employed at Herman’s clothing store as a sales rep and buyer for the store. In 1971 she was hired at Citizens Bank as a bank teller. In 1976 Citizens Bank switched over to Sun Trust Bank where she worked as a teller supervisor from 1980 to 2005 when she retired. Jackie started working at New Town Elementary School in 2010 and remained until recently. She worked as a one-on-one teacher assistant with kindergartners and 1st graders. The kids loved her and she loved them back. JACKIE was warm and genuine to all that knew and loved her. Her presence was easily felt and acknowledged when she entered a room. Jackie loved to bake. Some of her famous cakes were pineapple upside down, strawberry shortcake, pound cake and 7up cake. Fried chicken and potato salad were also some of Jackie's famous dishes. She enjoyed family gatherings and we looked forward to her annual Christmas party for good food, love and laughs. JACKIE is survived by her loving husband Gary; daughter Aniya; her five sisters, Cynthia (brother-in-law Nate), Roslyn (brother-in-law Kevin), Wanda, Michelle and Sheila (brother-in-law Douglas); two aunts, Delores Evans and Betty Jackson (Robert); two uncles, Harold Murray and Walter Murray; three sisters-in-law, Marva, Brenda and Denise "Pat"; two sisters-in-law Naomi and Stacy, eight nieces, Corinda (Kip), Towanda, Sherri (Jermaine, Sr.), Wanda, Sheila, Tonya, Taynisha (Kevin) and Tanya; ten nephews, Patrick, Larry, La'Ron, Keith, Doug and Marcus (Michelle), Marlo Sr., Anthony, Melvin Jr. and Algenon Wax; twelve great nieces, India, Krysten, Deja, Courtney, Nikki, Taylor, Abreya, Autumn, Marjanna, Maryam, Raina and Faith; nine great nephews, Richard, Ivan, Jermaine, Jr., Devin, Rashard, Paris, Terrel, Ronan and Noah; one great-great niece, Kameira; and a host of loving cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Preceding Jackie in death are: two aunts, Martha and Katherine; two brothers-in-law, William Wax, Jr. and Melvin Wax; one great nephew, Marlo Wax, Jr.
