Isla Audrey Joy Fraser, departed this life on July 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old. Born on June 28, 1934, in Georgetown, Guyana, Isla was the youngest of two daughters to the late Mortimer Edmond Jordan and Muriel Alberta Nichols Jordan. From an early age, Isla embodied a servant spirit, a characteristic that would define her life's journey. She consistently prioritized the needs of others, a selfless devotion that extended to opening her home to those in need alongside her husband. Isla's devotion deepened when she met and married Maurice Boswell Fraser. Their union of 56 years was blessed with three children: Michael, Sharon-Lee Allison, and Deborah. In June 1978, Isla made the courageous decision to migrate to New York, where she began working as a nanny. This endeavor was not merely a job; it was a means to an end, allowing her to achieve her heartfelt goal of bringing her entire family to America in 1981. Isla faced life's challenges with remarkable resilience, including battles with cancer and lupus, both of which she bravely fought into remission. Her unwavering strength and selflessness were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her sister, Grace Angela Dawn Robinson, and her devoted husband, Maurice Fraser. Isla leaves a beautiful legacy to be cherished by her son, Michael Fraser (Ruth) of Richmond, VA; her daughters, Sharon-Lee Allison Fraser (Trevor) of Brooklyn, NY, and Deborah Marcia Baldwin (Brent) of Chesterfield, VA. She will be deeply missed by her eight grandchildren: Demetrius, Marlon, Breanna, Michael Jr., Marc, Akiel, Shannon, and Maya, as well as her great-grandchildren, Caylen and Baby Breanna. She is also survived by a nephew, Nigel, several cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by her boundless generosity and loving spirit. Isla Audrey Joy Fraser's life was a testament to selfless love, unwavering dedication to family, and a profound desire to uplift those around her. Her memory will forever be a beacon of light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
