Isabelle Scofield

Mother Isabelle Scofield, affectionately known by many as “Belle,” was born on April 27, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Laura Newman and William Herndon. She peacefully departed this life on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the age of 82. Isabelle was educated in the Baltimore Public School System. Mother Scofield was the wife of the late Bishop Samuel Scofield, and out of this union, three children were born. She also had five children from a previous marriage. Mother Scofield was a loving wife and mother and always took care of her children and grandchildren. She also nurtured the neighborhood children as her children as well. Mother Scofield served faithfully under the leadership of the late Bishop William S. Barnes, Sr. at the St. Paul Apostolic Church of God in Baltimore, Maryland. She was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Mother Scofield held various positions in the church: head of the kitchen committee, Sunday School teacher for the Cradle Roll class, choir member and a member of the women’s auxiliary. She also loved to cook for the local assembly and the International gathering of COGICJA churches, and bake her famous rolls and cinnamon buns. In November of 1987, the late Bishop Samuel Scofield established the St. Peter Church of Repentance. After the home going of her husband in July of 2010, Mother Scofield appointed Bishop Erwin Scofield as Pastor of St. Peter Church of Repentance. In 2011, Mother Scofield accepted the call to be Pastor of St. Peter Church of Repentance until God called her home. Mother Scofield had many favorite songs, namely: One Day, Nobody but you, Lord, If it had not been for the Lord on my side, Everyday with Jesus, Something on the Inside, Give Him the Glory and Give Him the Praise. She was a true worshipper of Christ and would let nothing or no one keep her from serving her God. Mother Isabelle Scofield leaves to cherish her memory, eight children, Arnold Warren, John Warren, Tommy Warren, Martin Warren, Linda Stevenson, Isabelle Withers, Erwin Scofield and Renee Williams, one daughter-in-law, Loretta Scofield, three sons-in-law, Harry Stevenson, Sr., Anthony Withers, Sr. and Lamont Williams, three sisters, Inez Logan, Sheila Alford and Carolyn Duvall (four sisters preceded her in death), four brothers, Russell Herndon, Jerry Herndon, Arnell Mason and Robert Mason (five brothers preceded her in death), 20 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
