Irma I Lomax

IRMA IRENE LOMAX, daughter of the late Charles R. Cotton, Sr. and Irene A. Cotton, was born on December 14, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called home to rest in our Lord and Savior’s arms on April 4, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Irma received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She met and married the love of her life, Robert Lomax in 1960. From this loving union, Irma and Robert were blessed with four children: Derek, Deborah Ann (deceased), Robert II (deceased) and Anthony (deceased). They reared their children on the east side of Baltimore on Federal Street. As a young woman, Irma joined St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Baltimore, Maryland. In her later years, she joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland where she was baptized. She continued to attend the 11:00 a.m. worship service until her health began to fail. Irma was employed as a housekeeper in Ocean City, Maryland for several years. She always thought of her younger siblings, especially at Christmas time. She was extremely family oriented. She loved her children and also took care of other children as a Day Care Provider. She cherished the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite as she would spend many hours cooking. Her house was the place to go after you spent time with your own family. She loved the simple pleasures of life, entertaining, the joy of laughter and the comfort of bringing about a smile to others. Irma was also known as a great, fashionable dresser. When she left home, she was coordinated from head to toe. Irma later became employed at Armco Steel for ten years until she retired. Upon her retirement, she dedicated her undying love and care for her mother, Irene Cotton. Left to cherish her legacy and memory: her son, Derek Lomax; mother, Irene Cotton; five sisters, Marion, Victoria, Doris, Jean and Pauline; four brothers, Charles, David, Randolph and Joseph Cotton; five grandchildren, LaTasha, LaTonya, Robert III, Princeton and Dereka Lomax; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank Derek (Irma’s son) and Yvonne Davis for their unconditional dedication of love and care given to Irma throughout her illness until the time of her demise, also her friends, Dottie, Harriett, Leatha and Ada for their wonderful acts of kindnes
