Irene F. James

IRENE FLORABELL JAMES, the daughter of the late Herbert and Rebecca Adams was born on July 3, 1927 in Marion South Carolina, God whispered in her ear and called her home to rest, struggling with a lengthy illness on November 17, 2011 Irene also known as Hon or sweet, received her education from the public schools in Marion, South Carolina. Irene loved the Lord, starting from a very young age Irene attended Spring ville Baptist Church in Springlike, South Carolina. Irene taught her children to always keep God first in their lives, and to look to the Lord in all that they do Irene faithfully got on her knees to pray to God every night and every day, when it became very hard for her to kneel You would often hear Irene asking the Lord. Please help her to make it in. As a teenager, Irene was employed as a hairdresser and a waitress in a local restaurant. Irene and her late husband Sammie worked together as a well oiled wheel. Irene and Sammie had an agreement that the she would manage and run the house while he would provide for her and children. Irene loved her husband and children and truly instilled the importance of the family sticking together, and taught her children to except nothing less greatness! Irene was a strong compassionate and loving person who always put her family's needs in front of her own. You could always count on her giving her children advice! Whether they wanted to hear it or not, and she had a nack for making you feel guilty, while still making you feel loved, Irene loved to sing spiritual songs and one of her favorite was "In The Upper Room” Irene took care of her mother when she became ill and she nurtured her until God took her home to rest. Irene also took care of her husband and nurtured/cherished him until he was called home to rest Irene leaves to mourn five children, Sammie James, Jr., Hart L. James, Pecolia James Silver, Rebecca Silver (Larry Silver) and Patricia Silver (Dennis Silver); one sister-in-law, Geneva Bethea of Hampstead, New York; one uncle, Joseph Adams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two aunts, Mattie Johnson of Latta, South Carolina and Grace L. Charles of Seattle, Washington, sixteen grandchildren, including her special grandson, Sam thirty-nine one great grandchildren; a devoted nurse, Chris and a host of other relatives and friends, Her son, Harry L. James preceded her in death.
