Irene Emerson

Irene Emerson (Nee Webster) was born on May 10, 1930 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She was the fourth child of Lee A. Webster Sr. and Irene Webster (Nee Alston). The Webster family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland when Irene was a young child Irene was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. As a student and became an accomplished seamstress. The family later moved to Holabird Maryland, where Irene met George “Randolph” Emerson. They married on November 11, 1950; the marriage lasted until his death on March 18, 2012. Being married to an “Army Man”. Irene discovered the world of travel. They loved exploring different places. Upon returning to Baltimore. The couple settled down and welcomed one daughter, Cynthia. That love of travel was passed on to their daughter and granddaughter. It was during this time they resided in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Fort Ord, California. Irene fervently loved and supported her husband, She wholeheartedly helped to operate a fruits and vegetables stall In Northeast Market. Irene was also a licensed cosmetologist. After graduating from “Apex Beauty School” she and Peggy Alston opened two beauty salons. Once Cynthia started school, she became a loyal parent volunteer. As a result, she was offered a position as a teacher’s assistant. Her concern for the student’s wellbeing led to her becoming the parent - teacher liaison, making her an advocate for families and community. Above all, Irene Emerson was a woman of faith. She spent time in the church from a very young age. In 1968, led by the Holy Ghost, she joined the First Apostolic Faith Church with her husband Randolph under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Winfield A. Showell and continued under Apostle Cornelius Showell. There she served faithfully as a member of the Communion Committee until illness prevented her from serving. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Cynthia (Craig), Granddaughter, Taylor and her surviving brother, Lee A. Webster Jr: her special nephew, Keith, who was with her at the time of transition, a host of nieces, nephews and relatives . “Love Suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up: does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things endures all things. Love never fails…” (Corinthians 13:4-8: NKJV). With her quiet yet infectious personality, she embraced the ways of Agape love. We will miss her smile: her quiet personable demeanor and we will be forever blessed just in knowing her.
