Ira D. Carmichael

Ira Douglas Carmichael was born on January 15, 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland to Luther Douglas and Zebarene Carmichael. He was preceded in death by his father. Ira Douglas Carmichael ended his journey after a lengthy illness on March 27, 2018 at the age of 57. Although, he was sick for a few years, he never complained. He didn't let his illness stop him from enjoying life to the fullest and never wanted anyone to feel pity for him. Ira Carmichael was affectionately known to his family and friends as Chico and Tinker. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone. Chico was loved and adored by all. He was a man of great character. He was kind, loving, "real" and funny. His humor and bigger than life personality will be missed by all that knew him. Chico attended Baltimore City Schools and graduated from Harbor High School. He was employed with Baltimore City for over 25 years. During that time, he enjoyed his career as a cement finisher. He was a devoted employee and retired after he could no longer work due to illness. He married Ella Dian Carmichael in 1994 and from that union they had one child, Latoya Carmichael. Chico was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who would do anything for his kids and grandkids. He was proud of his three children, Ira, Latoya and Tracy, and will be remembered for his straightforward way of giving advice. He would always give his honest, unbiased opinion in a down-to-earth way. Chico was an only child and was a devoted son to his mother and father. After his father's passing, he continued to reside with his mother and to ensure that she wanted for nothing. She affectionately nicknamed him, "Tink." He enjoyed going to the Windsor Inn getting crab cakes for them to enjoy. Ira Douglas Carmichael's personality and memory will be remembered and cherished by his devoted mother, Zeb Carmichael; his three children, Tracy Day; Ira Carmichael (Tichelle) and Latoya Carmichael; Eight grandchildren, Taylor Harmon, Jadelyn Anthony, DreShawn Carmichael, Dominic Bullock, Ira Carmichael III, James Anthony, Juliette Michelle Carmichael and Karsyn Carmichael; Loving aunts, Mary Penn and Francis Stafford (Otto Sr.); A close cousin that was like a brother, John England and a host of family and friends.
