Hubert Lee Burns

On Tuesday, June 24, 2008, God saw fit to call a precious soul, doting father, loving brother son, and trusting friend to rest. Hubert Lee Burns, Jr. was born on July 20, 1970 in Orange, New Jersey from the union of Hubert Burns, Sr. and Betty Burns who both preceded him in death.Hubert grew up in Laurel, Md and graduated from High Point Senior High School in June, 1988. Two months later, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After proudly serving his country four years, he joined the U.S. Navy Reserves. During his tenure as Machinist Mate 3rd Class, Hubert received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award, and a U.S. Navy Law Enforcement Badge.After being honorably discharged from active duty, Hubert returned home and secured a job with John Vitale & Sons as plumber. Afterward, he began his career as a Correction Officer. While working for the Maryland Division of Correction and Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, Huber received many commendations: Certificate of Exemplary Service, Exemplary Job Performance, Exceptional Employees Achievement Award, Employee of the Month, and a Certificate of Promotion from sergeant to Correction Officer III.Affectionately known as Boo-Boo, Hubert was a loving and caring person who was very loyal to his friends and family, however, his heart belonged to his son, Jonathan. In his free time, he assisted in coaching every sport that Jonathan played which included baseball, soccer, and basketball. Hubert truly cherished his son and there was nothing that he would not do for him.He leaves to treasure his memory; son, Jonathan Burns; step-son, Alonzo Sloan; mother, Novelene Burns; sister, Emelda Guin-Allen (Troy); brother, Clement Burns; nephew, Trevor Allen; two nieces, Keira Allen & Anastasia Burns; five aunts, Jessie Little, Joyce Guin, Jennie Long, Flonnie Hamilton (Emmett), & Lorraine Burns; four uncles, Clinton Burns, Larry Burns (Debbie), Leonard Burns, & Gerald Burns (Edna); three special cousins, Kimela Galloway (Douglas), Jenell Robinson (Hesley), & Spyder Hamilton (Lisa); God brother, Jeffrey Burns (Candace,; three special friends, Mount Fulcher, Max Cayard & Maurice Holmes; a very devoted friend, Sharnika Merricks; and a multitude of family, friends, and coworker.
