Howard W. Rose

On Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 2014, we bowed in humble submission to our Heavenly Father who saw fit to claim the spirit of our loved one, Howard William Rose (aka "Baldy", "Bill" and 'Cody"). It is our belief that Bill is now free from all pain and has entered that new and wonderful life of peace everlasting. Bill was born on December 17, 1943 to the late Howard Pettus Campbell and Mary Louise Rose-Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, James and Gary. Bill was baptized at an early age at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Nelson County, Virginia. His strength was derived from his belief that "If it is God's will, it will be done and I will accept it". Bill was a cement mason by trade, but was also gifted in construction, carpentry and landscaping. His first job was with the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, and later with Dave's Construction Company for many years. He was also employed with Baltimore City Public Schools as a maintenance employee at the Harbor City Learning Center. He enjoyed gardening and was a master at growing flowers and vegetables. Bill was outgoing and had a special personality, people he met could not help but like him. He was a testimony that one who endures the storms and tribulations of life grows to become a better and more fulfilled person. In 1966, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Shirley Davis- Rose. Bill leaves to mourn: his soul mate of nineteen years, Beverly Washington; two daughters, Annette and Nicole; three stepsons, Gary, Steven, and Willie Sr.; two stepdaughters, Andrea, and Chemeka; his brother, Roger, sister, Lillian; stepbrother, Robert; uncle, Lewis Rose Jr.; two sisters-inlaw, Angela Putty and Diane Stewart; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Father when I have done my work and only You can know, Grant me the Blessed gift of sleep -- so quickly, let me go. Spare me the pain of lingering beyond my strength and will ..... When long and dreary days grow dark and nothing warms the chill. Free me from all earthly cares when this You deem is best; Take me gently, lead me, Father .... To my Eternal Rest."
