Herman B. Kelson

HERMAN BLASSOR KELSON, son of the late Homer Kelson and Daisy Hazel Logan Kelson Lockley, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 10, 1939. He departed this life on Friday, July 4, 2014, after an extended illness. Herman was educated in Baltimore City Schools System, where he received his High School Diploma. At an early age, Herman was employed at the bowling alley, where he set up the pins. He was also employed at the Pimlico Race Track, where he took care of the horses and cleaned the stables. Later, Herman joined the Army and 82nd Airborne, where he was a parachute jumper. He served for two years and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home, Herman worked for Baltimore, Maryland Transit System. He was later transferred to New York’s Transit System where he continued his career until he resigned. Herman later returned to Baltimore where he was employed at Jessup Correctional Facility, where he supervised for several years; he later retired. Herman was married twice, to Carolyn Kelson Proctor, and out of this union one child was born, Wanda Kelson Goldsborough. He later married the late Viva Kelson. Herman was also father to Taneshia JoAnna Banner of Chicago, Il. and Josh Williams of Orange, New Jersey. Herman was a very loving, humorous and caring person, who loved people very much. He was also a very generous and hardworking person. Herman would do anything to help others. Herman was a “Jack of all trades” and loved working with his hands. Friends and family will always remember projects that Herman has built for them in their homes. Herman was a loving devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family and every moment that he could spend with them. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: three children, Wanda Kelson Goldsborough, Taneshia JoAnna Banner (Tish) and Josh Williams; two grandchildren, Tré and Conner Goldsborough; five sisters, Gloria, Eleanor, Alice, Roxanne and Hazel; three brothers, Godfrey, James and Carl; (three siblings, Doris, Theodore and Joyce preceded him in death) and a host of other family members and dear friends. The family looks forward with great anticipation to the resurrection in earthy paradise conditions where we will be together again. — Rev. 21:3-4 — Isaiah 33:24 — Isaiah 35:5-7 “Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” — John 5:28 and 29
