Henry Wallace Bond

Deacon Henry W. Bond,Sr., fourth son and seventh child of the late John W. and Lottie H. Bond, was born on April 9,1944 in Baltimore,Maryland. He departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness,on Wednesday,October 24, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore,MD. Henry was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system,graduating from Fairfield Elementary#154,Benjamin Frnklin Jr. High and Southern High School.At an early age Henry decided to follow Christ as a member of the Ebenezer COGIC and later Bethel COGIC both under the late Elder James F. Parker.He became a faithful member of Emmanuel Ministries COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Joel H. Lyles,Jr.Dea. Bond was dedicated to service for God,his fellow man,and Emmanuel. He was there when Sunday school doors opened. He was there to help with the people from the shelter. He was there to usher in the Saints,and he made time to paint biblical murals on the wall.Henry W. Bond was united in holy matrimony to Rozella R. Wills on June 19,1965. "Big Hen," as he was so fondly known,at the age of fifteen met and fell in love with a twelve year old girl named "Rose"(the love of his life). He married her three days after having graduated from high school in 1965,becoming and staying one.Making their home for many years in the community of Fairfield where he had grown up in the southern part of Baltimore City. From this union was born two children,Henry Jr. and Deborah. Nothing would ever be more important than his family,for family was always first with him.Henry worked hard to supply his family's every want and need,working at various places of employment such as,Frank Gambles Salvage Co.,Baltimore Gas and Electric Company,Baltimore City Housing Authority and Baltimore Department of Parks and Recreation,retiring in November of 2006.He was also a very sociable person,laughing a lot at corny jokes,loving a good time,traveling,dancing and sports.The children at the Department of Recreation were his extended family. One could not tell if he was their director or their father,and they loved him back as well!!Henry was very goog at building things with his friends,taking all his kids bowling,skating,swimming and to Special Olympics and help him Lord he loved the Redskins!!He leaves to cherish his memory:his wife,Rozella R.Bond;son,Henry Jr.;daughter,Deborah L. Bond;grandchildren,Darryl,Henry III,Darrius,Marcia and Deshawna;great-grandson,Darrly L.;brothers,Rogers and John Bond;sisters,Esther Tiggle and Pearl Chase;four brothers-in-law,two sisters-in-law;three aunts,Gladys Townes,Pearlina Bazemore,Rosetta Bazemore;special recognition to Rhonda Williams and Derrick Purnell;nieces,nephews,cousins,a host of family and friends.
