Henry Lee Ward

Henry Lee Ward was born February 7, 1940 in Greene County, North Carolina. He was the second child born to Annie Mae Thompson. He was raised, and deeply loved by his uncle, Joe Ward and his aunt, Janie Ward. He departed this life on Saturday, May 8, 2004 after a lengthy illness.Henry received his education in the Greene County Public Schools System of North Carolina on December 15, 1959 he married Bettye Isler of Greene County, North Carolina and from that union eight children were born.In search for a better life, he moved his family to Baltimore, Maryland many years he was employed at Southern Galvanized Steele Company. In addition, he was self-employed for many years. A sportsman for outdoors, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and gardening.In 1979, Henry became a member of Wilson Park Holy Church of Power and he rejoined in January 2004. His favorite verse was “ This morning when I aroused, I didn’t have no doubt, this morning when I got out of bed, I didn’t have no doubt, I know that the Lord would take care of me, I know that the Lord would provide for me, I know that the Lord would lead me all the way.” Henry was deeply loved by his family and friends. He brought love and joy to everyone.He was preceded in death by daughter, Denise, Brother, Gene Ham and sisters, Helen and Rosamae.He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 44 years, Bettye Ward; children, Marilyn Langston of Goldsboro, N.C., Arthur Lee (Janice), Henry Jr. (Tamika), Dennis (Pamela), Brenda, Vanessa, Anthony (Keisha) and Bettie Ann Ward, all of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Naketta, Tiffany, Lance, Isaiah, Makala, Marquis, Maya, Mariah, Bryant, Myecha, Tyecha, Anthony, Rasike, Tylika, Chamia, Anthony, Denise and Sonique; great grandchildren, Keisha and Amonte; mother, Annie Mae Woodard; siblings, Mary Grace of Capital Heights, Md., Charlie (Daisy) of Wilson, N. C., Nathan (Barbara) of Silver Spring, Md., Lastri Rull of Washington D.C., Joseph Leon (Donna) of New Haven, Conn., and Billie Ray (Eve) of Wilson N.C., in-laws, Ruby, Thelma, Delores, Dorothy and Jimmy of Wilson, N.C., special cousins, Evangelist Cleo Sugars, Helen Williams and Jane O. Ward all of Baltimore, Md., in addition to a host of other relatives and friends.
