Helen R. Paysour

HELEN RAMONA STOKES PAYSOUR was called home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2014. Mona, as she was affectionately known was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 20, 1929 to the late Levi Stokes Sr. and the late Lottie Adele Stokes. She was educated in the Baltimore school system and took a course in dressmaking at Douglass High Evening School. Helen married Marshall Paysour in 1946 (He preceded her in death). From this union four children were born. Helen accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend Willard L. Clayton. Helen worked part time as a presser and did alterations at Hochschild-Kohn & Co. When the children were older she worked full time as a Retail Sales Clerk during which time the company was bought by Hutzlers. Helen worked at Hutzlers until they closed. She later became a cook at Kiddie Castle, a job she enjoyed so much because of the children. Helen loved to sew, making clothes for herself, children and others. He had many customers. Her other passion was reading. She truly loved her children; their father passed away while they were young. Helen made sure the children could talk about their thoughts and fears to her regardless of the subjects. She taught them to remember that its important for families to “Love” and be there for each other. Helen was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over fifty-five years. She was a dedicated member of the Senior Usher Ministry, the Daniel G. Mack Flower Circle and the Shower Circle. She leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Raymond Marshall (Elaine), Ronald Stanley (Vivian), Rosalyn Adlele Thompson and Roxie Ann Paysour; eight grandchildren, Raymond Paysour (Malika), Jada Quann (Branden), Kia Johnson, Dana Jones (Ryan), Marshall Thompson (preceded her in death), Nysa Paysour, Vishua Henry (Xavier), Gerod Thompson; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucinda A. Queen (brother, Levi Stokes Jr. and sister, Ethel Livers preceded her in death); two brothers-in-law, Eugene Paysour (Betty) and Wallace Paysour (Barbara); two sisters-in-law, Alease Stokes and Trix Paysour and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She also leaves a devoted childhood friend, Nancy Bernard and two other loving friends, Thelma Turner and Florence Pride.
