Helen Fountain

Helen Fountain was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 25, 1936 to the late Richard and Hallie Fountain. On January 20, 2016 after a lengthy illness, God in His infinite wisdom gently took Helen into His loving arms where she is now making heaven her eternal home. She received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Helen began her employment history early in life. She became employed with the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) program for many years. Her most memorable employment was with the Baltimore City Health Department where she officially retired from the “William S. Bear School” in 1999. After retiring, she volunteered her services in health, to the Johns Hopkins Hospital, working with teens with “HIV.” Helen was united in marriage to Robert Brandon, Jr., whom she called, “Robert, Jr.” Helen had strong faith in the Lord, and loved the Lord with all her heart. She could pray, and was known as a prayer warrior for her powerful prayers. Helen was a dedicated member of the Second Antioch Baptist Church and later joined the Garden of Prayer Baptist Church. She was a member and soloist of the senior choir and member of the senior ministry. Helen enjoyed going to church and worshipping in the service of the Lord. Helen was well known and loved by everyone. She was called “Aunt Helen” by all who knew her. Helen loved her children and would do anything for them. Nobody could call “BUTTONS’ name like Helen. She was a true servant who didn’t mind helping anyone. She had a loving, kind and compassionate spirit, and was willing to give of herself to all. She had a heart of gold. Helen left an unforgettable impression upon everyone she met. Helen loved music and also enjoyed watching old westerns on TV. She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her sister and friends. Helen embraced people and had love and passion for helping and caring for special needs children whom she cherished at the William S. Bear School. During her illness, her best friend/son, Buttons was constantly at her side. Helen made numerous friends at the senior building where she lived. She enjoyed her neighbors, and loved playing cards, cooking and dancing with her neighbors and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brandon Jr.; son, Robert Walker; and four brothers, William, Willis, Richard and Leon. She leaves to cherish both her memory and her life, one son and (best friend), Reginald Walker (Buttons), one daughter Vanessa Fountain, one sister, Doris Pinkney, two grandchildren, Gainers Wells and Miesha Thomas, five great grandchildren, Curtis, Daquan, Omar, Jada and Makiya, one God daughter, Karen Brandon, four sisters-in-law, Delores, Bernice, Eleanor and Diane, one brother-in-law, Charles, special friends, Catherine, Tripp, Diane and Karen and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
