He restoreth my soul.” - Psalm 23:1-3 HAZEL BERNIECE PERKINS was born on July 21, 1931, in Emporia, Virginia, to the late Rosella Perkins. She peacefully departed this life on March 23, 2026, at Franklin Square Hospital, Accent Care Hospice Unit. Hazel received her early education at R.R. Moten School, where she completed the fourth grade. She was lovingly raised by her Aunt Roberta Wilson, along with the support of several other aunts who played an important role in her upbringing. She grew up surrounded by family, including Della, Tellie, Robert Lee, Henderson, Clemon, Floyd, and Andrew. Her older brother, Weaver King (deceased), also helped care for her during his time as a merchant seaman. At the young age of 16, Hazel married Richard Earl Lee Harrison, known as “Pete” (deceased). From this union, two sons were born, Earl (deceased) and Theodore. The family later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in search of better opportunities. After Pete’s passing at 36, Hazel later married Romie, and from this union, they were blessed with a son, Milton. Hazel dedicated her life to her family as a devoted housewife. She found joy in cooking, sharing stories, and spending time with those she loved. Her warmth, strength, and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her two sons, Theodore (Janet) and Milton (Kathy, deceased); Earl’s devoted friend, Glenwood; beloved grandchildren, Dajuan (Laekisha), Jennifer (Bau), Adrian (Yolanda), Mark, and Kimberly (Edwin); great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Chantel, Dajuan Andrea, Donte, Marquis, Azaria, and Myla; precious great-greatgrandchildren, Amias and Marianna; and a host of cousins and friends. Hazel’s legacy of love, resilience, and family devotion will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
