Harry Grady “Pooch” Sivells, U.S. Navy Retired Petty Officer 1st Class March 10, 19610-March 25, 2022 Harry Grady Sivells (61) of Las Vegas, Nevada, affectionately known as “Pooch” departed this life suddenly March 25, 2022 was born March10, 1961 to the late Grady Horton and Laura Sivells in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from Northern High School in 1980, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for over 20 years, rising to the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Pooch began his naval career at the Naval Technical Training Center in Meridian Mississippi, where he received his career rating as Yeoman. Pooch traveled the world while in the Navy, but his final duty station was the USS Nassau (LHA4) where he retired in 2002. During his naval career he received, the following honors (2) Navy “E” Ribbons for Excellent (3) Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Coast Guard Special Operations, Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, (2) Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medals. (2) National Defense Service Metals and (5) Navy good Conduct medals. Pooch continued his service to his country working for the Veterans Benefits Administration in Baltimore, Maryland and Las Vegas, Nevada until his passing. Pooch loved Las Vegas and made it a point to move there. He came up with a plan and never looked back. He said he was living well his “best life” there and only regretted not moving sooner. He said Vegas never sleeps so he always had ticket to fights, shows and basketball games. He often hosted family and friends. He treated us to home, Marathon movie night, hours in the pool and tours of Las Vegas (Fremont Street Included). After a few years there, he brought his dream home with a rooftop deck where he could smoke cigars and look at the Las Vegas lights. And of course, also sharing a story or three About the Navy days. Pooch cherished his family and friends more than anything else. He would send surprise gifts of things you didn’t know you needed. He was an exceptional person and a great friend. He was handsome, kind, funny, quiet, the biggest “sneakerhead”, and best brother all the same time. He had the best laugh and was sincerely kind to everyone. Pooch was is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Anthony Sivells, Robert Sivells, William Sivells, and Mattie Sivells. Pooch leaves to cherish his memories; siblings Betty (William) Logan, Bernard Sivells, Beverly (Robert) Jones Ricky Sivells, Michelle (Alice) Bibbins, Lisa (Wayne) Walston, Felecia Sivells, Bryan Sivells, Dawn Sivells Tonette (Christian) Ngassa, partner Patrick Battle, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
