Harold M. Tucker

HAROLD MICHAEL TUCKER, son of the late Estelle Jacobs-Tucker and Julius Tucker, was born on December 22, 1952 in Union, South Carolina. At the age of 68, he peacefully departed this life on January 23, 2021 at home, after a lengthy illness. Harold was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Northern High School, where he played on the basketball team. He enjoyed drawing when he was younger and was good at it. He retired from Wagman Construction Company many years ago, he also worked for the City of Baltimore Parks and Recreation for several years. Harold was a true Ravens fan, win or lose he was somewhere watching the game. He was well known to many, referring to him as Harold or Uncle Harold or Tucker brother, but you dare not call him Michael, only his favorite Aunt the late Marion Bolton, was allowed to call him that. Harold never had children of his own but had many nieces and nephews that he absolutely loved, and they loved him. Although he loved them all, he held a special place in his heart for his nephew Albert (Pape) as he would call him. He also had a favorite cousin, Larry (Foontney) as he called him. He had a nickname for everybody, and whenever Albert and Larry would come visit, the three of them would sit on Mama’s front porch and have themselves a good time reminiscing and laughing about old times. Harold had many friends but he had two in particular that he remained good friends with for over 50 years; Alex (Peanut) Williamson and Alfred (Al) Gladden. The three of them we’re inseparable growing up. Gloria Davis was also his good friend for over 50 years. Gloria was always there to take him wherever he needed to go. Struggling with his illness, at times he would be a little difficult to bear, but she still showed up whether to take him to his doctor’s appointment or bring him something to eat, she was right there. Harold had three dear neighbors that he was good friends with; Dr. Martina Callum (Doc) as he called her, Juan Quintanilla (Tony) and Charles Mason. The four of them would also sit on Mama’s front porch and have a good time laughing. Mama’s front porch was definitely the place to be. He had a special bond with his old neighborhood. Harold grew up living on Greenmount Avenue for decades. Although, he moved away many years ago, nothing could stop him from visiting his old neighborhood quite frequently. Even through his illness, you could find him down the way ( as he called it) any given day. He will definitely be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ester (Sis), Mary (Helen), and Brenda; and two brothers, James (Doc) and William (Hawkeye). He leaves to mourn one sister, Margaret Hawkes and one brother, Robert J. Tucker (Tanya); three nieces, four nephews, six great-nieces, one great-nephew and eight great-great-nieces and -nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
