Gwyneth Y. Cooper

Gwyneth Yolanda Cooper was born the 5th child to Thomas and Rosalind Gomes on 15 July 1941 in the villiage of Swetes Antigua. As a child she enjoyed horseback riding and going to the beach. Sunday was one of her favorite days, it was the day of worship, she especially liked dressing to go to church and Sunday school. She was very close to her younger sister Bernice, they went everywhere together. She left Antigua for Montserrat at the age of 10 to live with her brother Austin and his family. She then returned to Antigua and stayed for four years before leaving for England by herself at the very young age of 19 for a new life. While sailing to the land that's paved with gold, she met her first husband and produced 3 children, Carol, Patricia, (who passed at a young age) and Jason, who in turn had children of their own, Leon (whom she affectionately called Leelee) Jasmin, Erin, Isabelle, Oscar, and Darcey. She was also the proud great grandmother to Dante, Olivia, and Delylah, her face always lit up when she spoke to the grandchildren on facetime. Once settled in England, she had dreams that one day she will own her own business. She was passionate about hairdressing and studied hard and passed her exams with flying colours. She fulfilled her dreams and became the proud owner of Yolanda's Haircare, she was so proud and so were we. Later in life she met her second husband Gary during his tour of duty while in the Military. They resided in the UK for a while then decided to return to the US to make a life for themselves and spent 40 blissful years together. Gwen was a hard working woman, people often wondered how she got by on very little sleep but she did. As well as working she and her husband had a business as caterers. Gwen was a loving, kind and caring person and would help anyone at a drop of a hat if she was able. Gwen spent the month before her passing with her family, she spent four wonderful weeks with her family and meeting up with old friends. Before returning home, we arranged a surprise belated birthday party, her face was a picture when she realized what was happening, she chatted, danced and ate food. She wouldn't go to sleep until everyone left, she breathed in the atmosphere, she was like a child again, it's a memory she spoke about an the time to friends when she returned home. It will be cherished. She will be greatly missed, Rest in peace, we love you always.
