Mrs. Gwynedean Victoria Allen

Gwynedean Victoria Allen was born on August 9, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Oswald and Katheryn (Thornton) Poulson. She departed this life on December 25, 2024, at the Harbor Hospital Hospice Center. Vicky, as she was affectionately called, attended Andover High School in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County, where she played volleyball. Her parents then moved to Baltimore City, and she attended Edmondson High School, graduating in 1970. On March 27, 1971 she married Bruce in Baltimore City from this union two sons were born, Bruce Jr. and Robert Allen. Vicky was a business major and participated in the work-study program in her junior and senior years. She had internships with the Social Security Administration, and when she graduated, she was offered a full-time position. This was the only job Vickie ever worked. She retired in 2005 as human resource specialist, technical assistant. She enjoyed working and taking long lunch breaks to go shopping. She enjoyed listening to Ashford and Simpson, Phyllis Hyman and Tina Turner. Vickie loved to travel, whether it was a day trip on a bus for shopping, catching as show, or playing the slot machines at the casino. But her favorite time to travel was in August when she and Bruce would travel with their sons and their families to Virginia Beach every summer for their family vacation. She loved to take walks on the boardwalk, lie in the sand on the beach, and watch her grandsons play. In her quiet time in Virginia Beach, Vickie would find time to read a few pages of a book about the life of Tina Turner while sipping on a piña colada. She loved to cook her famous dishes for family functions: chocolate cake with white icing, sweet potatoes with marshmallows (making an extra pan for Robert), and mac and cheese (making an extra pan for Jake). Vickie loved to visit her sisters to play cards, pokeno and have sleepovers, watch the Orioles play, and have late-night phone calls with Peach Cup (her sister, Wyndie). She is preceded in death by her brother, Buddy, and two sisters, Rae and Pryncess. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Bruce Allen Sr.; two sons, Bruce Jr. (Karen) and Robert (Fatima); her four grandsons, Jake (Bruce Jr.), Josiah, Cassius and Sebastian (Robert); her three sisters, Wyndie Fay Poulson, Katheryn Diallo and Robin Taylor (Darrell); brother-in-law, Steve (Ricky) Allen; and sisters-in-law, Gyle Allen-Bey and brother-in-law Barry Allen; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.
