Gwendolyn Mc Laurin-Davis

Gwendolyn Inez McLaurin-Davis, daughter of the late Junious "Junior" and Inez McLaurin, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 25, 1953. After a short illness, God called His child home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, just after sunset. She lived a life that honored Christ and gloried God in all her endeavors. She fought bravely, leaving a proud legacy of excellence, service and love that we will always remember her for. Gwen joined Bethel AME Church under the leadership of Pastor John Bryant and later moved her membership to the Empowerment Temple under the leadership of the Pastor and Founder Jamal Bryant in 2002. "Gwenie", as her mother and loved ones affectionately called her, was the third born of the four children; her brother Ronald McLaurin preceded her in death. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools System graduating from Northern High School. Continuing the family tradition of breaking down barriers, she went to Coppin State College, to be the first to graduate from college in her family and received a BS degree in Business Management. She started her Federal career with the IRS before transitioning to the US Postal Service as a clerk, while there she met her husband, Leroy Davis. After retiring she went on to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a real estate agent. This gave her the opportunity to help others to purchase and rent properties throughout the Maryland region. She was nick named 'Mother Theresa' in her real estate office because of her personal attention to each of her clients. Gwen brought smiles and laughter to whomever she was around. She loved traveling and music; exposing her family to everything she loved. We were lucky enough to join her during her travels around the globe including Italy, Paris, Hawaii, and Jamaica. From Pop music to Gospel; Gwen's love for music was evidenced by her album collection and CD's. With her trademark laughter ringing out from the sounds of music and the joy of being around those she loved. Gwendolyn leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her husband, Leroy Davis; Daughter, Kila Macer; son, Kyree McLaurin-Davis; brothers, Curtis McLaurin and Gregory Pinkney, (Marilyn): nieces, Natalie Ring, Jamia Pinkney, Janise Pinkney, Joycelin Pinkney, Annette Satterfield; nephew, Gregory Pinkney Jr.; step daughter, Michele Villiness (Eric); step son, Keith Davis (Nadia); sister-in-law, Lucinder R. Whittington, brother-in-law, Stanley L. Davis (Mary); grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends who truly made her life shine. She will always be our Gwenie.
