Gwendolyn Lenora Holt

God looked upon a rose garden and chosen this beautiful rose. He stretched his hand out and said “come my beautiful rose you have finished the course, “and with the wings of the dove and the clouds on high he flew her home to sit beside her on the throne. That beautiful rose is Gwendolyn L. Holt, the daughter of Dolores Hawley and late William H. Brunson, who was brought into this world on April 1, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Brooklyn public schools in her early years and completed in Baltimore where she graduated from Western High School in 1977. Proceeding high school she attended Catonsville Community College. As a young girl, age nine, Gwen joined and was baptized at Mt.Winans first Baptist Church. She also sang on the youth choir. Through all her years living in Cherry Hill she became apart of the Goodman sisters; Jeri, Pootnie, Jackie and Gwennie. Along with this unity, Marci and Sharon became her friends. They all were and still are Gwen’s sisters or life. On December 20, 1982 and at the age of twenty-two, she united as one Earl W. Holt. They began their life together living in an apartment in Baltimore City and shortly after to Glen Burnie where most of their years were shared together. Of this unity two girls were born, Kia and Tamika. Gwen didn’t work much because she preferred to stay home with her girls. She participated and was active in their school work and parent-teacher activities. A wife, a mother, a listening ear and the ability of making a way out of no way is what made her so special. She was kindhearted and generous person and would help another even when she didn’t have for herself. Gwen have always been a very outspoken person, no matter who you were; it she had something to say, she would say it. She was a person, no matter who you were; if she had something to say, she would say it. She was person of principal. Her famous line would be” Its not what you say and do, its how you say and do it.” Our beautiful rose leaves to mourn: a husband, Earl Holt; three daughters, Tamika, Kia and Mia), mother, Dolores Johnson, stepfather, Robert Johnson; stepmother, Rosa Brunson; three brothers, Gregory, Jason and Derryl Brunson, and a grandmother, Wilhelmenia Bryant; and eight nieces and nephews, and a host of aunts and uncles.
