Gwendolyn Fowlkes

GWENDOLYN YVONNE FOWLKES was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Elaine Brown and the late Arthur Fowlkes on January 3, 1957. She departed her life on November 1, 2024, due to a lengthy illness. Gwendolyn received her education from Baltimore City Public Schools. She started a career in the nursing field and retired as a Baltimore City Employee. Gwen, as we all called her, was very family oriented. To know her was to love her! Her personality exuded selflessness. She had a heart of gold, and she wore her heart on her sleeve . She was caring and compassionate. She was a great listener, very understanding and so easy to talk to Gwen could make friends everywhere she went and loved by all. She was a nurturer therefore, caring about people was like second nature to her. Gwen would feed you, clothe you, or give you her last of what she had. She loved pranking people and looked forward to “April Fools” day. Gwen was very of life, and she also touched many lives. She definitely left her footprints here on earth. Gwen’s greatest joy of her life was spending time with her best friend/ her one and only child DIONNE! Gwen and Dionne would have endless talks, lie in bed together watching tv, laughing, dancing & singing together; and just loving on each other. Gwen loved spending time with her family and friends, that’s how she developed such a wonderful personality. She always kept everyone laughing with her jokes. Let’s not forget when the music came on, she would get up and cut a rug. We could go on forever about Gwen because our memories of her are endless, but this is just to say the least about how much we will all miss her. Gwen was preceded in death by her father Arthur Fowlkes and her sister Carlisa Stokes (Ladybug). Gwen leaves to cherish her precious memory: her mother, Elaine Brown; her child, Dionne Hanna; two brothers, Carl Stokes and Leslie Stokes (Beaver); sister, Robin Stokes (Cookie); sister-in-law, Regina Stokes; two grandchildren, Desheara Williams and Tony Allen; great-granddaughter, Harlym Lessane. long-time devoted partner, Michael Sewell; one special nephew, Lenard Stokes (more like her son) who was very dear to her; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; also, a few friends whom she was very fond of, “The Rich Family” and Cynthia Creek.
