Gregory McCullum

Gregory McCullum - was born on December 25, 1956 to the late June Dennis Powell and Annie Ruth Powell. He was the fifth son often children, four that preceded him in death, Diane McCollum, Denise Williams, Phillip Powell and Dennis Powell. At the tender age of six months, his mother honored the pleasure of him becoming legally adopted by her sister Bertha McCollum and her husband Frederick McCollum, who endured the blessings of having him as a wonderful son. He entered eternal rest on April 4, 2007. Gregory, known to everyone as “lump”, received his education through the Baltimore City public school system. He graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School and had a passion for basketball, which he enjoyed using his height on the court. He received numerous awards from different teams that he played on. He graduated from Baltimore City Community College and obtained a degree in Microbiology. After graduation, he obtained employment at Beckton and Dickerson Diagnostic Corporation where he had a 30-year tenure. He often spoke about the good times he and his co-workers encountered. He loved to dance, sing, and spend quality time with his daughter, fiancé, and mother and playing football with his great nephew, Mark, who will never forget the good times they spent together. He also had a special bond with his niece, Tawanda, which will carry a lifetime of memories. He had several childhood friends, Jack, who was there to bring encouragement and support till the end, Mike, Dave, Maurice, Johnny, Cookie, Greg Green, Nana, Billie, Pop Pop, Daniel and Purnell. He had an unforgettable personality that differs from any other man because he remained the same at all times. Even through the obstacles that he faced for the last four months, he remained humbled and continued to smile which brought much joy and comfort to everyone around him. Best of all, Gregory was introduce to the Lord at a young age through his mother, Bertha McCollum who is a fervent believer in the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Bertha McCollum; daughter, Monica MeCollum; fiancé, Darlene, also known as “Sweet Dana”; two sisters, Aletha Harlee and Debra Powell; three brothers, Michael, Darryl and Donald Powell; four special nieces, Tawanda, Tammie, Shannon and Leaka; ten aunts, Annie Mae Moody, Luretha McCall, Sarah Harlee, Mae Harlee, Alice Harlee of Baltimore, Leola McNair of Maxton, NC and Jane, Coretta, MayElla and Alice of Rochester, New York; uncles, John Walter, Glen Powell, Renard Powell and David Powell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
