Gracie E. Pervall

Obituary Gracie E. Pervall, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend to many, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born on September 3, 1936, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Walter “Jack” and Grace Edwards. Gracie was educated in the Richmond Public Schools System and attended Maggie L. Walker High School. She worked until retirement at MCV Hospital in Central Supply. After retirement, Gracie was self-employed as a Child Caregiver to the Miller, Dickinson, and Bellamy families. She genuinely loved the children that she helped raise, fostering a sense of security and well-being for them. She was adored by the families that she supported and remained in touch with them throughout the years. Gracie attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Richmond where she was a long-standing member. In her early years, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the St. Peter’s Women’s Group. Gracie loved attending “Coffee Hour” in the Parish Hall, as well as hosting coffee hour. She went all out on the Sunday’s that she hosted, and everyone looked forward to the “spread” she was going to lay out. Gracie was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was known for her kindness, unconditional love, and faith. She had a passion for gardening and planting flowers. Gracie had a green thumb and if you ever spent any time with her on a Saturday afternoon, at some point you would have made a trip with her to a garden center to purchase bulbs, vegetable seeds, or plants. Aside from gardening, Gracie loved being outside...whether she was at the tomato festival, the women’s show or just a Saturday couponing from store to store. She was not going to let any grass grow under her feet. If there was an event going on, you better believe she was going to be there. She was known for her seafood gumbo and seafood salad and affectionately referred to by many as “Ma Gracie.” She was preceded in death by her husband, George Pervall; and granddaughter Shenay Potts. She leaves cherished memories to her loving children, Ronald Williams (Antoinette), Rosalyn Wingfield (Kenneth), Robert Williams, III (Erma), Rodney Williams, Irving Pervall, and Tracie Jones (Tony); grandchildren Charisse, Noel, Adam, Simone, Nathaniel, Nina, David, Rhonda, Renee, Marcia, Irvisha, Monifah, Shaniqua, My’Asia, and Brittany; and a host of great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Her love and presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. The same way she nurtured her plants and vegetables, throughout her life, she nurtured her family with warmth and grace, leaving a legacy of cherished memories.
