Grace Inell Richards Taylor

"To everything there is a season,and a time for every purpose under the heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1 A time to be born...Grace Inell Richards Taylor,daughter of the late Giles Richards and Jeanette Richards Jones,was born in Clover,Halifax County,Virginia on August 20,1920. She and her family relocated to Richmond,VA in the Fulton community in 1925. She was preceded in death by her brother"Sonny",her daughter,Marian T. Williams and son,Robert S. Taylor. A time for God...Grace joined the St. Augustine Catholic Church in 1946 and raised her children in the Catholic Church. She joined the Good Shepherd Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Sylvester T. Smith and attended regularly until her health began to fail. Grace believed that you must seek ye first the kingdom of God,and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you. A time to learn,work,and enjoy the fruits of her labor...Grace was educated in the Richmond Public Schools and later worked in that System. She retired in 1985 at age 65 and her life really took off. She was now free to do all the things she loved. She traveled to numerous places with the Fulton R-CAP under the direction of Mrs. Evelyn Carter. She later joined the Good Shepherd Senior Center and continued to travel and enjoyed her friends and her "Wednesday Job" at the center. Mama Grace,as she was so affectionately known,was an expert wine maker,enjoyed gardening,singing in the senior center chorus and her family. She took her flight at age 72 and swore that flying was the only way to travel. A time to love...Grace marred her former husband,Samuel H. Taylor,Sr.,on April 5,1940 and from this union they were blessed with seven children;Grace"Ree"T. Dabbs(Linwood);Samuel "Junnie" Taylor;Frances"Cookie"T. Carr;Jeanette "Baby Sis" T. Lewis,(Mason)and William :Bubba" Taylor. A time to go home...The Lord in His infinite grace and mercy called Grace home on Sunday,June 27,2010. She was surrounded by loved ones. Her care-givers included her granddaughters;Karen Jones,Christie Mason,and Sharon Edwards. She leaves to cherish her memory,one niece,Barbara Johnson and one cousin,Phyllis W. Griffin and a host of other relatives and friends. Mama Grace knew the power of love. She was a devoted wife,loving mother,grandmother,and great ,great,great grandmother and a dear friend and good neighbor. We have all been truly blessed by her presence and her spirit will live on.
