Grace Ruth Trusty

Grace Ruth Price, beloved wife of Wilbert Trusty, Sr. and daughter of the late Garland and Pearl Price, was born on December 4, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland.She departed this earth on August 15, 2003 at 12:30 a.m. to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her education was received in the Baltimore City Public School System attending Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. She was a student of home economics, loving baking, cooking and interior decorating.She gave her soul to Christ at an early age.In 1952, that wonderful year she married her childhood sweetheart, a guy named Wilbert Gordon Trusty, Sr. This marriage was blessed with five children, Wilbert Jr. (Hank), Carolyn (Cat), Melvin (Hot Rod), Gregory (Great One) and Sherman (Pete).Grace was employed by the Baltimore City Public Schools Food Service Department, retiring in 1996 after thirty-five years of service.Grace loved baking cakes, pies, making large subs on Saturdays, making those who were lucky enough to taste the wares very happy. One year, Grace entered her applesauce cake into the Afro baking contest, however she did not win a prize, but the judges kept and ate the cake.Grace had a unique collection of dolls and loved working in her gardens. She loved going on picnics and vacations with her family, rising at 4:30 a.m. putting all the apparatus together for an enjoyable day.Grace started Trusty family reunions in 1954 while a resident of Cherry Hill Homes. Grace’s deep love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren made her proud to discuss their accomplishments in school and physical achievement.She loved having lawn parties, barbecues and family gatherings inviting the whole neighborhood.Grace disliked flying in airplanes, but enjoyed motor trip vacations and cruises. Shopping at thrift stores were her Macy’s, Sears and Hecht Company. She would copy designs in major stores and complete them with material from thrift markets.Grace had a gentle smile and a great sense of humor, which made it a pleasure to be in her presence. Grace never lost contact with her childhood friends, especially Sedonia Merritt and Edna Bonds.Memories of her love will be in the minds of all she came in contact with and will not be forgotten.She leaves to mourn: her husband of 51 years, Wilbert; daughter, Carolyn; sons, Wilbert Jr., Melvin, Gregory and Sherman; grandchildren great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Wendy Trusty, Deborah Trusty, Frazier Alexander and Deborah Langsford; friends and relatives.
