Gordon L. Webb

GORDON LEE WEBB was born June 23, 1951 to the late Daisy Mae Blackwell in Baltimore, Maryland. Gordon departed this life peacefully in the presence of loved ones on November 10, 2020. Gordon grew up in Baltimore with his mother; his late, younger brother, Robert J. Blackwell Jr.; his grandmother, the late Annie Jenkins; and his father, the late Robert J. Blackwell. Gordon was a student of the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from City College High School in 1969. After high school, Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served for several years and eventually acquired his welding certification. Soon after his honorable discharge from the Army, Gordon married his late wife, Maggie Mae Person Webb of Castalia, N.C. From this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Wanda Webb Oakman. Maggie was called home to be with her Lord at a very early age. Gordon remarried in 1980 to the late Lavinia Elma Hurley Webb of Prince Frederick, MD. After their separation, he met Debra Denise Ruggs of Baltimore MD, and from this union they were blessed with a daughter, Candice Bianca Webb; and raised five children, Ikisha, Shamika, Regina, Breonna, and Tyrell.Gordon worked several jobs within his lifetime, always working his way up to supervisory positions. His strong work ethic and leadership abilities were well-respected by his managers. He spent the majority of his career with U-Drive It Associates, before they moved out of state, and then with P.T. O’Malley Associates from which he eventually retired. Gordon was a hard worker, a good friend, and an excellent provider for his family. He openly shared his life experiences with his children, even the mistakes he made in his life so that they would learn from him. His pride laid in the success of his children, saying, “I guess I must have done something right”. His most fulfilled heartbeats, however, came when his beautiful grandchildren, Samari and Caleb entered this world. He gloated over them and spent most of his time making sure they knew how loved and important they were to him. Gordon was a good father who loved all of his children and continuously stressed the importance of education and continued growth. Gordon was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Mae Blackwell; brother, Robert J. Blackwell Jr.; father, Robert J. Blackwell; wife, Maggie Mae Person Webb; wife, Lavinia Elma Hurley Webb; and very good friend, Herman Grate.Gordon is survived by his daughters, Wanda Webb Oakman (Anthony) and Candice Bianca Webb (Adrian) of Baltimore; grandchildren, Samari Renee Oglesby and Caleb Lee Miles of Baltimore; step-sister, Kim Blackwell-Terry; nephews, Brian Blackwell (Zack) of Philadelphia, PA, Ronnie Blackwell (Keisha) of Prince Frederick, Lance Terry of Atlanta GA; and a host of adored children, friends, and other relatives.
