Gordon E. Hansley, Sr.

Brother Gordon E. Hansley Sr., son of the late Bishop Amous C. Hansley and Adv. Sr. Mtr. Sarah Lee Hansley, was born on November 16th, 1942 in Coshocton, Ohio. He departed his life on April 1st, 2015 after a lengthy illness .Bro. Gordon attended the public education system in various states: Ohio, Florida and Baltimore from grades K through 12. He furthered his education attending colleges to get licenses/certificates in fields which he mastered. Bro. Gordon had many jobs within his lifetime; one of which was Baltimore City Housing Authority where he worked over 40 years before he retired. He also went back to work at MVA spending 10 years or more there. Bro. Gordon was a hard worker. Brother Gordon was known as "Gordon", "Poppa", and "Chico". He was also known for his many talents using his hands such as building, cooking, and his ultimate favorite, playing the guitar (which he made talk). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, motorcycle riding, and spending time with his family and friends. He was born and raised by Elder and Mother Whiteside. He attended the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob where he was baptized and received the Holy Ghost at an early age. He traveled throughout the coast of Iraeal and played his guitar. Bro. Gordon met and later married Mtr. Victoria Mae Hansley on January 20th, 1960. Out of this union six children were born, Sheila, Hezekiah, Mary, Yolanda, Gordon Jr., and Joyce. Bro. Gordon Hansley met numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a true friend. To truly know him was to love him. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Mtr. Victoria Mae Hansley (pd); four daughters, Elds. Sheila Heggs, Mary Hansley, Yolanda Hansley-McCoy and Joyce Hansley; two sons, Hezekiah Hansley and Brother Gordon E. Hansley Jr.; two sons-in-law, Pres. Elder Mark Heggs and Mr. Todd McCoy; daughter-in-law, Lavern Hansley; six brothers, Aubree, Amous, Paul, Walter, Mark and Nathanial Hansley and special brother, Howard Dennis; two sisters, Mary Walker and Justine Hatcher one sister-in-law, Sheila Hansley; twenty-one grandchildren, Demont, Nachelle, Anthony, Tiffany, Steven, Nathanial, Isaac, Shanaia, Crystal, Shakeira, Jenard, Gordon III, St. Jalia R. Hansley (pd) ,T'Erika, Nigel, Kenneth, Jalen, Nyla, Noel, Tavian, Noah; twenty great-grandchildren; oldest friends, Bennie Scott, Florad White and Buddy Boy Austin (pd); one godchild, Ulysses Austin; best friend and cousin, Arthur Lee Gale; and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
