Gloria Sligh

Gloria Sligh, age 61, peacefully transitioned on October 9, 2025, at her residence in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born on November 12, 1963, in Newberry, South Carolina, to her devoted mother, Mary Parker, and was raised with the love and guidance of her beloved grannie, Annie Williams. Gloria confessed Christ at an early age at Progressive First Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, and remained grounded in her faith throughout her life. Gloria was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and proudly graduated from Walbrook Senior High School in June 1982. Throughout her career, Gloria held a series of positions that reflected her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Her time at Sears in Glen Burnie, Maryland was especially meaningful – she took pride in her work, cherished her co-workers, and built friendships that lasted long after the doors closed. In recent years, she continued to share her professionalism and kindness as a Medical Historian at Bio Life Medical, where she was deeply appreciated and respected by her colleagues. She was kind, fun-loving, social, witty, thoughtful and hardworking – a woman who brought laughter and light wherever she went. Gloria loved fashion and took pride in dressing up for every occasion, always leaving a lasting impression with her vibrant personality and timeless style. Gloria leaves to cherish her memory: her faithful sister, Lenora Camper (Marcus) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; sister-in-love, Darnetta Sligh of Baltimore, MD; aunt, Barbara Sligh; and three uncles, George Sligh, Eddie Sligh (Tracy), and Larry Sligh (Sheila) of Newberry, SC. She is also survived by three nieces, Chevelle Williams (Joshua), Kelly Sligh and Ariqka Sligh; five nephews, Eric Sligh, Jr., Damian Johnson, Jordan Camper, Joshua Camper and Dharnell Sligh; great-niece, Latrice Williams; loving cousin, Chanel Sligh; and many devoted relatives. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Mary Parker, grannie Annie Williams, and brother Eric Sligh. Gloria also shared a lifetime of love and memories with her best friend, Ronald Burnette; cherished friends, Sherriell Stanley, Lisa Blanton, Theresa McQuay and Quory Wishop; along with a host of family, friends and co-workers who loved her deeply and will miss her dearly. Her family and friends will forever remember her radiant smile, joyful spirit, and genuine love for people. Though she may be gone from our sight, her beautiful soul will live on in our hearts. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Gilchrist Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Gloria’s final days. We also wish to express sincere gratitude to the many friends and family members who visited, called, sent cards, and offered gifts of love, comfort, and kindness. Your thoughtfulness has brought great strength and peace. “To know her was to love her – and to love her was a gift.”
