Gloria M. Parker

On Friday, November 9, 2012, GLORIA MARION PARKER was gently touched by an angel and quickly led into the heavenly realm of eternal peace, rest and joy. She left us with her love and blessings. Gloria was the eighth child of eleven children, seven brothers and three sisters, born to the late Spurgeon Lee and Addie Manley Reynolds on August 30, 1922. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Calvin, Melvin, James, Clarence (Jack), Harry and Donald; and her sisters, Peggy Reynolds Carter and Gwendolyn Reynolds Grinage. She received Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Grace Memorial Baptist Church. Gloria was educated in the Baltimore City School System; graduating from Frederick Douglass High School on February 14, 1941. She met and married her loving and devoted husband of sixty years, Woodrow Wilson Parker. This union was blessed with three children: Steven, Deborah and Cynthia. Gloria worked for the C&P Telephone Company, now Verizon, for over thirty years as a mailroom clerk. There she met many friends who she kept in touch with after retirement. She was affectionately known to many as “Patsy.” Patsy love to cook for her family whom she loved to spend time with, especially at numerous family outings. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren. As her health began to decline, she was cared for by her devoted children and husband, especially Candy who fed her the Word of God into her spirit. Patsy loved to listen to music and would sing all the time. Often as pain tried to over whelm her, music was the medicine for her soul. Her favorite saying was: “There is nobody like Him.” She knew God was always with her, when she felt weary, she would raise her hand and say, “Thank you God.” Gloria leaves to celebrate her life: her devoted husband, Woodrow W. Parker; her three children, Steve (Kellye), Deborah “Candy” and Cynthia (Brian); six grandchildren, Sherrell Parker, Steven J. Parker, Jr., Alexander McNeely, Brian Kirk, Emory Parker and Alexis Anthony; here great-grandchildren, Breshe Barton, Steven J. Parker III and Zipporah Parker; a loving sister, Beverly (Bobbie) Bailey; brother, Spurgeon Lee Reynolds, Jr.; honorary daughter, Gloria Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family
