Gloria Adele Greene

Legacy of Love Gloria E. Greene, of Richmond, Virginia transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the age of 87. Gloria, born on February 7, 1932 to the late Adele and Robert Evans Sr. She understood the importance of family at an early age being one of eleven children. Gloria attended Armstrong High School and received her diploma in 1948. After high school Gloria continued her education at Van DeVyver Business School, where she earned a certificate. Additionally, Gloria attended the University of Richmond for two years. Gloria began her career as a bookkeeper for Consolidated Bank and Trust Company, and in 1955, began working for Bellwood (Defense General Supply Center) as a Supervisory Management Specialist until her retirement in 1987. Gloria, a loving and devoted woman, became the mother to three children: Linda M. Hall, Rudolph Murray Jr., and Robert R. Murray through her union to Rudolph Murray, Sr. In 1975, Gloria married James Greene Sr., which resulted in a blended family of 6 stepchildren and 10 step grandchildren. James Greene, Sr. preceded her in death in April 1998. Gloria attended Providence Park Baptist Church since her early childhood and was a very active member, serving as Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Senior’s Ministry, and a member of the Women’s and the George Crawford Choir. She was also a faithful member of the Sisters United of Richmond, Virginia. Gloria was very creative and could be found doing one of her many hobbies of crocheting, knitting, wedding consultant/directress, and floral designer. She also had a love for giraffes which resulted in a monumental collection. Gloria loved life and lived it to its fullest, always surrounding herself with family and friends. As a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend she will truly be missed by all. Gloria was preceded in death by her brothers Cecil Evans, Louis Evans Sr., Robert J. Evans Jr., sisters, Arlene Horne, Pearl Evans, Robinette Evans, and Ruth Olivis and her devoted daughter-in-law Charlean Murray. Left to continue her legacy of love are her children, Linda M. Hall (Ulysses), Rudolph M. Murray, Jr., and Robert R. Murray; six grandchildren, Natasha Murray, Rudolph Murray III, Deonna Faison, Brandon Murray (Amanda), Darrian Murray, and Brandi Rucker (Tyrone); 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon Evans, Sr. (Clara), John Evans, and Charles Evans, Sr.; one devoted nephew, Robert W. Evans; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gloria finished her assignment and accomplished her goal of raising her family. It is clear that Jesus is Lord, and beside Him there is no other. Gloria instilled values and truths that will last a lifetime and will forever be remembered. Gloria, a beauty to us all, still lives.
