Gloria B. Dorsey

Gloria Brenda Dorsey was born on April 9, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Doris Johnson and Harrison Mathews, both of whom preceded her in death. She was affectionately known as "Ma," "Grandma," "Granny," "Brenda," and "Mother Dorsey" by the many lives she lovingly touched. Gloria attended Baltimore City Public Schools, where she began developing the strength, resilience, and values that would guide her throughout her life's journey. Gloria found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and nurturing meaningful relationships with her friends, many of whom she embraced as family. She loved to cook, and one of her favorite dishes to prepare was goulash. Growing up, Gloria enjoyed going to parties and dancing to her favorite music. She also loved listening to music, especially gospel, which made her feel the presence of God. In 1966, Gloria married the late Alexander Dorsey, and together they were blessed with seven children. One son, Lionel Dorsey Sr. (Hezzy), also preceded her in death. In 1998, after one of many heartfelt conversations, Gloria made the life-changing decision to give her life to Christ. With the help and guidance of her son-in-law, Moses, she began attending the Pentecostal Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Marie E. Brice, where she received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. While faithfully attending the Pentecostal Church of Deliverance, where she was known as Mother Dorsey, she worked in the Missionary Department doing what she loved most, working for the Kingdom of God. Her warm heart, gentle spirit, and welcoming presence brought comfort and a sense of belonging to all who knew her. She found joy in sharing laughter, offering wisdom, and creating cherished memories. Gloria was a woman of grace, compassion, and unwavering faith, Gloria loved God with her whole heart and made shore everybody knew it. Gloria lived a life devoted to love, kindness, and service to others. She will forever be remembered for her radiant spirit, quiet strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. her beautiful legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great & great- great grandchildren, relatives, and friends who were blessed to know and love her. Gloria was proceeded in death by her Step- Father Edwood Watts, 2 sisters, 1 granddaughter, 1 great granddaughter and a host of other family and friends. Gloria leaves to cherish her precious memories six loving children: Cynthis (Moses) Clayborn, Johnnetta Richardson, Sherwood Dorsey, Douglas (Yvette) Dorsey, Carolyn and Calvin Dorsey, 1 Step-Daughter Nichelle Dorsey along with 37 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. 1 sister Linda Johnson, Best friend Charlene Curtis and host of other family and friends.
