Gloria Jean Chiles

Our beloved Gloria Jean “Glo” Chiles, 59, of Richmond peacefully joined the angels of heaven and entered eternal rest on March 13, 2015. She was born June 24, 1955 to the late Grace M. Chiles in Richmond, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her brother James Chiles and two sisters Grace E. Chiles and Lillian Evans. She was baptized at Grayland Baptist Church in 1988. Glo was educated in the Richmond School System and attended George Wythe High School in the 70’s. She was employed by VCU Health Systems for the last nine years in the housekeeping department. She was a very social person, enjoyed bingo and playing cards with family and friends. When time permitted, she was would often take bus trips to Atlantic City pulling the slots until she had enough. She truly loved a great times with her family. Glo was a beautiful, humorous loving, nurturing, faithful and committed to her family and friends. Glo was a great mother who was the backbone of her family. She made sure that everyone around her was okay. This was her ministry and is indeed her legacy. Glo made friends wherever she went. She was a loving, caring person that was outspoken, funny that shared a unique and astounding relationship with each of her grandchildren. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and loving friend leaves to cherish her precious memory two loving and devoted sons, Lamont Chiles (Tracy) and Gregory Chiles Sr. (Martina); 11 grandchildren, Lamonda Hamilton, Lamont Hickman, Gregory Chiles Jr., Crystal Chiles, Niyassia Chiles, GaMya Chiles, Alicia Williams Angela Williams, Comari Chiles, Charon Chiles and Tevon Brown; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael Hamilton Jr., NaZya Cheatham and DréShawn Howard; two caring sisters, Rosetta Washington and JoAnn Chiles; two brothers, Junius Chiles and Robert Lee Chiles; aunt, Vivian Christian; two devoted nieces, Pamela Jackson and Patricia Chiles; sister-in-law, Sarah Chiles; brother-in-law, Charles Evans; an ever-lasting friend, Ronald Thomas; her best friend, Gail Watts; two caring friends, Vanessa Andrews and Dawn Russell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Thank you Lord for the many wonderful years with her!
