Geraldine Scott

Geraldine T. Scott, daughter of the late Louise Coleman and Charles Williams (2nd Father- Thomas Yates) was born on January 29, 1940, in Mitchellville, Maryland. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 84. She received her education in Mitchellville Maryland, where she was raised, before moving to Baltimore. There, she met and later married Eugene W. Scott Sr., on May 5, 1962. Together, they created a family raising four children: Veronica “Ronny,” Yvette “Soaky,” Eugenia “Lippy,” and Eugene Jr. “Gene.” Geraldine attended Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist church for several years where she served as a member on the usher board and choir. She discovered a deep passion for both teaching and working with children, inspiring her to pursue a career in education. She became a teacher’s aide and taught at Margaret Brent Elementary Middle school for 35 years before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and impact on generations of students. She often ran into former students and each encounter was filled with warmth and joy. They would eagerly reminisce about their time together, sharing laughter and fond memories. It was a constant reminder of the meaningful impact she had on their lives, with each reunion reinforcing the lasting bond they shared. After retirement she continued to work with children at several daycare centers. In her spare time, she loved spending time with family and friends, doing arts and crafts, playing computer games, solving crossword puzzles, taking bus trips to Atlantic City, and shopping at department stores, where she would get so wrapped up in shopping that she’d forget she was with others leading to her name being called over the intercom to be found. Geraldine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend known for her kind heart, strength, willpower, vibrant personality, and her straightforward way of telling it like it was. Though she is no longer with us, her love, wisdom, and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She is survived by her husband, Eugene W. Scott Sr. “Deet”; children, Yvette “Soaky,” Eugenia “Lippy” (Kinny), and Eugene “Gene” (Penny); sisters, Elaine, Pat, Shirl (Kevin), Velma, and Tawanda; brothers, Joseph (Barbara), Thomas Jr. (Sandra), Pete (Jennifer), Larry (Deborah), and Louis (Joyce); her “Baby Boy” Tyron Bishop Jr.; grandchildren, Celestine, Andre “Smirk” (Vonnie), Michael “Tricky” (Chandra), Eugenia “Pebbles,” Lynette “Netty” (Lou), Erica, Keyona, Tyleah and Yvette; great-grandchildren, Quan (Nea), Shada, Deon, Darrius, Angel, Destiny, Sha’Lynn, and Madison; great-great-grandchildren, London, Salena, Kinsley, Zion and Patience; in-laws, Evelyn, Carla, Vester (Linda), Henrietta (Edward), Frank, and Walter (Jackie), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Charles, 2nd father Thomas Yates; daughter, Veronica “Ronny”; sister, Brenda; brothers, Bubba, Charles Williams Jr., Michael and George; son-in-law, Charles; sister-in-law, Elsie; and brothers-in-law, Kevin and Donny.
