Geraldine M. Parker

Life’s Legacy Geraldine Parker was born July 2, 1942, to the late Magdeline Cross McDougald and James Z. McDougald in Chatham County, North Carolina. She was raised by the late Effie Holloway. On April 7, 2024, Geraldine was called home by her heavenly father to be His newest angel. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband James R. Parker; sister Margie McDougald-Joyner; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Squire and Thelma Knight and Hazel Cousins. Geraldine graduated from Armstrong High School in 1961. She furthered her education and attended St. Philip School of Nursing receiving her LPN license and then to VCU School of Nursing. There she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and her career began as a Registered Nurse. Geraldine embodied the spirit of service and compassion, touching the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. Her unwavering faith sustained her through life’s trials, guiding her with grace and humility. Geraldine’s love extended far beyond her immediate family, encompassing a wide circle of others. She touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving an indelible mark on every heart she encountered. While our hearts ache with grief, we take solace in knowing that Geraldine’s spirit lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared. Though she may have bid farewell to this earthly realm, her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire us for generations to come. Geraldine was not just any woman; she was a symphony of sass, humor, and resilience. Her feisty demeanor and boundless energy were infectious, lighting up every room she entered with her laughter and zest for life. Her presence was a beacon of joy, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory a devoted sister, Jackie; goddaughter, Cathy Cheatham; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Parker and Audrey Grant (James); aunt, Catherine Everett; Terry Cousins her cousin that was raise as in his family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; devoted friends, Yvonne Harrison, Sherlon Fountain, Arlene Johnson and Corliss. Rest in peace, dear Geraldine. Your light will shine in our hearts forever.
