Geraldine Brown

Geraldine (Fuzzy) Brown, the daughter of the late Lena Savoy and Clarence Dixon, was born on June 22, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on March 18, 2002 after a brief illness. She received her education through the Baltimore City Public School System. For many years she managed several restaurants and stores throughout Baltimore City. She also worked as a data processing supervisor at the Pepsi Cola Company. She worked diligently and faithfully for the Baltimore City Public School System for seventeen years. In 1980, after the death of her youngest son, Avon Brown, she said the Lord spoke to her and told he to “save the children.” At this time, she began an intense program to do whatever she could to help troubled youth and keep them in school. One of the central focuses of her life was to promote education for the youth. Their home for over forty years has always been known as a safe haven for young and old. Over the years the number of people to whom she has opened up her home cannot be numbered. She was loved and admired by her co-workers, she extended a helping hand to many of them that looked upon her as a mother and sister. She had received a citation from the Mayor of Baltimore for her outstanding and untiring service to others. She also received other awards for recognition for service. She touched the loves of many and will be sincerely missed by those who knew her. She leaves to mourn six children: Karen waters, Valerie Whye, Vernon Anderson, Kelvin Anderson, Yvette Brown and Michele Jenkins; three sons-in-law, Charles Waters, Jerome Whye and Wendell Jenkins; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one sister, Esther; one brother, Frederick; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.You were my best friend. You always made sacrifices for me. I loved when we would have girl talks. I remember you making up stories to challenge my mind. You would always bring a troubled girl home and I would have to take them with me, do their hair and just be their friend. I didn’t know it then, but Jesus was using you to instill my ministry today. When you were diagnosed with you first ailment, I was there. When you passed, I was there by your side. I was pleased that you gave Jesus the Glory and made peace with Him before you left. I will truly miss you, but I will be all right because the joy of the Lord is my strength.Your Baby Girl,Chel
