Georgianna Moody

Georgianna Bryant Moody, the daughter of the late William A. And Fannie Powell Bryant of Edgecombe County, North Carolina, began her life January 16, 1922, in Tarboro of Edgecombe County, North Carolina. She attended Bellamy Elementary in Whitakers, and Bricks Jr. High School in Enfield. She departed this life July 31, 2004.She was known to family and friends as “Georgia”, she was the devoted and loving wife of Elijah B. Moody. She always called him “Moody”. Moody in his own unique and special ways took care of her until the time of her death. On December 23, 2000. Georgia and Elijah renewed their fiftieth wedding anniversary vows under the officiating Reverend Irvin T. Roane of Macedonia Baptist Church of Colonial Beach, Old Dominion State.Georgia’s children are all natives of Washington, DC. After residing in DC, she relocated Chaplain, Virginia and eventually moved to Richmond. She was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church of Caret during her residency in Champlain.Georgia sought employment in Virginia after all of her children became adults. She devoted her time to care for and raising her oldest granddaughter, Sherry. She joined the workforce after many years as a homemaker exercising her gifted talents of quilting and cooking. She retired from Shoney’s Restaurant in December 1999, after completing fifteen years of service in the position of gard mange in culinary.Her special interests were to be in the company of her grandchildren, family and friends. She proudly co-assisted with the delivery of her now one year old granddaughter, Jayla. Georgia truly loved her family. It was something special to be in her presence with her and her sisters and loving brothers. It was always a hearty, bundle of laughter and good times. She enjoyed attending church, music recitals and special family events. As a proud grandmother, she was very honored to attend the first college graduation of her granddaughter, Shani and recent weddings of her tow grandchildren Tyrone and Tawanda. She was a gentle spirited and warm hearted lady. She also enjoyed the company of her pet dog, Pooch.She leaves to cherish her memories and elder son, James “ John”H. Bryant of Washington, DC. Within her fifty-three year union to Moody, she leaves fond memories to her four children: Catherine (David) A. Buckner of Bowie, MD. Bernard Moody of New Kent, VA, Ronald (Rose) L. Moody, of Tappahannock, VA, and Jacqueline Y. Harris, of Highland Springs, VA; and former son-in-law, Tony, Georgianna was one of twelve of children of children, seven sisters and four brothers: Mary* (Sam*) Adams of Silver Spring, MD, Martha* (Johnny*) Speight of Whitakers, North Carolina, Fannie* (Ernest) Taylor of Philadelphia, P A, Rosa (Lee*)Wyche of Long Island, NY, Alice (Herbert*)N. Taylor of Hyattsville, Md, Annie Laura (Samuel*) Daniels of Virginia Beach, VA, George*Bryant (Georgia’s twin), William * (Octavia*) H. Bryant of Halifax, NC, Rebecca*Bryant of Taraboro, NC, Dr. James*(Julia) E. Bryant of Rocky Mount, NC., and Joe (Mary Alice) Bryant of Battleboro, NC; former sister-in-law, Thelma Bryant, of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Sherry, Ronald Junior, Tawanda (Roger), Shani, Derrick and Jayla of Richmond, VA; grandmother Georgia was very grateful for the times spent together. Also, Vernon, Vincent, Tyrone, Elaine and Deborah of MD, Jeffrey of Pittsburgh, PA; great grandchildren of Virginia, Damonte, Kaneshea, Kevonte, Jamarie and Jamal; Tiffany, Destiny and Jeffrey of MD.Special acknowledgments of in-laws, Kimberly (Walter)Winston, and children.
