George R. Carroll

George Richard Carroll,Jr., known affectionately as "Dickey Boy," the son of the late George Richard Carroll, Sr. and the late Mary E. Washington Carroll, was born on March 2, 1920 in Clarksburg, Maryland. George slipped quietly away on Monday, October 2, 2006.Dickie was educated in the public schools. He attended Clarksburg Elementary and Lincoln High in Rockville, Maryland."Mr. Fix-it," he had various jobs and worked with the Womack Electric Company until they closed.George enjoyed the pleasures of this world. He took the initiative to educate himself, learning about world history, the human mind, skillfully mastering checkers and the chess games. He would speak of the good book "The Bible" as the best book to read.He loved to play checkers and chess, always letting you win a few games. Sometimes before you would make your move he would ask, "Are you sure you want to make that move?" There were times on certain moves he would laugh saying, "No, you don't want to make that one." He loved the games.George often told stories of his life experiences that keep you in stitches (some true, others you question). He carried on great conversations, and he loved people and they loved him. His personality was affectuous and a great smile to match.George always enjoyed church. He attended the Parklane Baptist Church for a time until he moved. Even then he still attended another church. He often spoke of the importance of serving God and ain't nothing like that "word".George had significant relationships in his life that had great impacts of him. His love will always be heartfelt by all.He was preceded in death by his brothers Earl E. Carroll, Elmer E. Carroll; one sister, Louise Carroll-Stewart; two daughters, Rene McKay and Georgia Gray; and long-time significant other, Rosa L. McKay.George leaves to cherish and celebrate his life: daughters, Jennifers Joyner-Green (James), Sherrie D. Williams (Joseph), Deborah Owens (Frank)' sons, Lloyd (Billy) Reese, Leroy McDonald; brother, Leroy S. Carroll; sister, Ruth R. Brown; twenty-two grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
