George W. Gonsalves

George W. Gonsalves, son of the late Annie Bell Gonsalves and Riley Henley, was born on April 29, 934 in Amherst County, Virginia. He departed his life on April 9, 2016 due to a sudden illness. George (affectionately known as "Tony") moved from Virginia with his family to Baltimore, Maryland where he continued his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Upon completion of his education he became an employee at Two Guys for a period of time. After leaving Two Guys he pursued a career at the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company for over 2 years, as a foreman. Tony would tell many stories about his employment there. He accepted Christ at an early age; was baptised and married at Saint Phillip's Lutheran Church on Caroline Street. On June 25,1960 he married Brenda A. Gonsalves, and they shared a strong loving life for 56 years. tony was the example of what a husband and a man is supposed to be. Although not having children out of this union, they adopted and nurtured Samantha and Michael as their own. Tony was a compassionate, caring, humble and honorable man who established great relationships with anyone he came in contact with. Being the eldest child, he maintained a special bond with his mother and family. Tony loved fixing his cars, fishing crabbing, karate, old western movies, and playing one string on his guitar. He also loved landscaping, decorating for Christmas, his red van, sitting on the porch with the three amigos who preceded him in death (Mr. Lionel, Mr. Taylor, and Mr. Bill Reid); and MOST OF ALL, TONY LOVED TAKING CARE OF HIS WIFE. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Brenda Gonsalves; two adopted children, Samantha Wilson and Michael Venable; two sisters, Ruth Green and Genevieve Sarah; brother, Roosevelt "Rabbit" Henley; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Carroll, Denise (Leroy) Venable-Harrison, Mallory Venable and Dorothy Gonsalves; two brothers-in-law, Don Venable, William (Barbara) Venable; and two special friends, William "Bill" Boyd and George Lilly; and a host of other relatives and friends. Also preceding him in death; his mother, Annie bell Gonsalves; his father, Riley Hanley; his brothers, Melvin and Edward; sister, Annetta, mother-in-law, Helen Venable; father-in-law, William Venable Sr.; and brother-in-law, Samuel Carroll Sr.
