Garnal Lee Deener

Garnal Lee Deener, son of the late James Deener and Louise Davis, was born on January 18, 1932 in Charleston, West Virginia.Garnal received his education in the school system of West Virginia. He decided to leave the state of West Virginia to journey to Baltimore, Maryland, where he made his home. After moving to Baltimore, Garnal met his friend and sweetheart, Elnora Ruth Hooper. He decided that she would be his wife and life-long companion, so they were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1949. Of this union, they were blessed with six daughters and one son. His wife, Elnora, one daughter, Phyllis and his son, Michael, preceded him in death.He gained employment at the shipyards of the Bethlehem Steele Sparrows Point Plant of Maryland, until his retirement after 35 years of service.Garnal dedicated his life to the Lord and united in the fellowship of the Israel Baptist Church of Baltimore City on April 30, 1961, then under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. Edmond D. Meade, Sr. He remained a faithful servant of Israel, even during his illness. He served on the Senior Ushers until his health no longer allowed him to minister. He loved his Pastor, Rev. Rev. H.W. Wilson and his church family. He loved the Lord and knew of His tender grace and almighty mercy. Garnal especially enjoyed talking with his prayer partner, Sis. Willie Mae Cherry.Garnal loved his family with all of his heart and took great pride in them. He was a devoted husband and father-one of God’s angels. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with.On Monday, March 15, 2004, God in His divine wisdom, sent His angels down to take Garnal from this earthly life in that heavenly kingdom above.Garnal leaves to cherish precious memories: five daughters, Sheila Wall, Brenda Deener, Jessie Spriggs, Pamela Deener and Elnora Brown; eight grandchildren, Lee Deener, Ashley Deener, Tramaine Washington, Kelly Deener, Shanta Deener, Sierra Spriggs, Justin Spriggs and Kadiqua Deener; one sister, Marie Knight; daughter-in-law, Alphonia Deener; nephew and nieces, James and Rosetta Martin; brother-in-law, Edward Hooper; sisters-in-law, Eloise Hooper and Rosetta Arrington; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.By loving, you taught us to love,By trusting, you taught us the meaning of faith.By giving of yourself, you taught us to care.Thank you, Dad.From Your Loving Children
