Freddie Brown

As the angels hovered over this lively soul awaiting for the call to bring our dear loved one back home, and the prayers of the hospice staff surrounded him like clouds gracefully dancing; the trumpet was blown and God, in His infinite wisdom, in the late evening on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, dispatched an angel for FREDDIE, lovingly known to us as “Sonny,” to depart from his earthly body to be present with his Heavenly Father. Sonny peacefully bid us farewell, and the angels took him up in the wind, and escorted him safely home where our Heavenly Father welcomed him with open arms. Sonny book of life had 82 chapters, which were very rich and very full. He was born on March 27, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland t the late Basil Brown, Sr. and Eleanor Grant. He received his early education in the Baltimore City Public School system and later became employed by the Eastern Stainless Steel Corporation where he worked for a number of years. He was later employed with Goetz's Carmel Creamery and often times would work on the side as a handyman. He was often called upon by family and friends of his professionalism and quality work. He also loved to sit down to a good home cooled meal, and he could throw down too! At family gatherings he would entertain with his charisma and his sharp wit that enabled him to effortlessly connect to others. His nieces would get a kick out of him calling them names of fruit like “peaches and plum: or even referring them as bunny rabbit. Sonny” as he was lovingly called by his family and the people close to him made numerous friends wherever he went. He had the kind of bubbly personality that was always a joy to be around. He loved to chit-chat and had a gift of gab. Especially when it came to the ladies! He was a self-proclaimed ladies man-let him tell it! He never complained but was given the strength to withstand throughout is lengthy illness. He spent his remaining years sharing his wisdom and sense of humor with his loving family until his time was fulfilled on this earth. His memory will forever be dear to the hearts of his one sister, Mamie B. Johnson, a brother-in-law, Howard M. Johnson; two sister-in-law, Audrey Brown and Brenda Brown, all of Baltimore, and a host of nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We will truly miss his spark, sense of humor, and the valor he exhibited in the face of diversity! Sonny you truly are one of the rays to which sunshine is spread!
