Fred Johnson

Life’s Legacy Fred Johnson, Sr., a remarkable man, was born to the late Sterling and Myra Johnson on October 29, 1935 in Battleboro, North Carolina. He graduated in 1954 from Maggie Walker High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army from November 30, 1959 to September 10, 1961. He completed his military duty serving his country proudly and received an Honorable Discharge. Fred spent the majority of his adult life living in the Washington, D.C. and Maryland area, where he worked as a Private Investigator for the Government for several years before retirement. Soon after retirement, Fred owned and operated a used car dealership in the Washington DC area, where he was able to embrace his love for cars. Fred was a man of great adventures. Throughout his life, Fred always enjoyed traveling and photography. He faithfully supported his favorite NFL team, the Washington Commanders. Fred was a proud and dedicated member of Charles Datcher Lodge #15, Free & Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliation (PHA), operating under the jurisdiction of The Most Worship Prince Hall Grand Lodge, District of Columbia, Inc. His spirit serves as a reminder that we, too, can break barriers and create positive change. He embodied the value of love, compassion, and devotion, and his life’s work touched countless souls. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he has impacted. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to embrace life’s adventures and make a difference in the world, just as he did. He was preceded in death by his son, Lorenzo Allafonta Johnson. Fred leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy a loving son, Frederick Johnson, Jr.; adored daughter, Michelle Pollard (Gary); caring son, Tyrone Burke-Alexander; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Alexander Johnson; his devoted beloved sister, Mary Archer that was always there for him; nephew, Alex Anderson; 2 nieces, Teresa Ross and Lynette Johnson; a host of cousins and friends; and 2 devoted caregivers, Orric Green “Chuck” and Crystal Scott and a host of other relatives and friends. To have touched so many lives bears testament to the fact that Fred’s purpose was divine.
