Frances V. Wilson

FRANCES VANETTA BATTLE-WILSON, daughter of the late Elizabeth Charms-Beard and Winfield Battle was born on July 23, 1939. She departed this life after a life long battle with heart complications (cardiomyopathy) on June 16, 2006.Frances was affectionately known as a loving mother, extraordinary grandmother, glorified sister, precious aunt, and all around “true” friend. She had a loving, caring, and very generous spirit that touched the lives of so many, each in her own special way. Frances had a nickname for all her grandchildren, nieces and many friends. Frances enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, singing (out loud and proud), old black and white television shows, country music, collecting coins and had a very special love for the Patapsco Flea Market.Frances was seven years old when she accepted Christ into her life. She along with her sisters and brothers were baptized at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.Frances received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She attended Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Elementary School #122. She then attended Booker T. Washington Junior High School. She received her High school Diploma from Douglass High School (1957) specializing in the Business Education Curriculum, continuing her education at Calvert Adult Education Center in which she completed a two year certificate of award as the first student in the history of Howard Educational Center day program to complete Bookkeeping 11 (1969).In 1969, Frances accepted a position at Equitable Bank as a Central File Clerk. Later promoted to a Processing Clerk and then to a Reconcilement Clerk, until she retired 1990. After Frances retirement, her passion for collecting and recycling vintage items led to her current position at Patapsco Flea Market as a Cashier.Frances was dedicated to the Flea Market, it was more then just a job, for her it was also a place where young children looked forward to their “smiley faces.”Frances is survived by William S. Wilson; one son, Albert Davis, Jr.; two daughters, Sharon Wilson-Harden and Denise Wilson-Mabry’ two sons-in-law, Prezel M. Mabry and Gregory Harden; two sisters; Mary Clark and Thomasina McDuffie; four brothers, George Batlle, Carl Woingust, Walter Woingust, and Warren Agar; three sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Woingust, Alice Battle and Katrina Agar; one brother-in-law, Carlos McDuffie; nine grandchildren; Edward (Eddie), Albert (Juney), Deana, Jamal (Big Guy) Chavez (Booga-Booga), Bernard (Boobie), Chelsea (Boopsee), Janelle (Baby Girl), and Emmanuel (Boo-Bee); four great-grandchildren, Deonta, Ebony, Any, and Dahja, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.Frances was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Battle; two brothers, Charles (Joe) Battle and John Battle; one sister, Doris Chapman.Frances was one of a king and now resides in the house of the Lord. She will be truly missed.According to her wishes, Frances will be cremated.
